View Full Version : BWT Substitutions
Okay, I've used the search function and can not seem to find a specific answer to my question about substitutions. It may be painfully obvious to answer but I would like to know for sure. Here's the scenario: I got Rockband on launch so of course that night a group of my friends get together and made a band. We were all more interested in jumping in and playing the game than taking the time to fine tune characters so we threw them together and proceeded to rock out. :p When the festivities died down (many hours later) and the friends went home I decided to start my solo tour. I don't have an xbox live account so I created my solo character under my boyfriend's (who I live with) account so I could play the character I put the most time into online. Now that said character has a closet full of clothes and instruments and enough cash to play around with I have not revisited the original character I made for BWT. I usually just play with my main solo character and substitute her in when we play with friends. So here's my question. If I play the endless setlist with a substitution does that character reap all the achievements (legendary status, glowing online) even though she's not technically in the band? I just don't want to waste all that time playing that huge setlist and get nothing to show for it because I was playing with a substitution and not an actual "band member". I would assume I would because it seems only the band leader is an integral character and the others can be switched around as needed but I can't find any info to make sure I'm right.

I'm not sure if you'd get the achievements, but you can use the band roster to add and remove people from the band, so you could add yourself to it to make sure.
That sounds like a plan. I knew the band leader could remove someone from the roster but I wasn't aware they could add new people. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

I think if you join as a character under a slot that doesn't have a "regular" (no orange name above it on the 4-pane sign in screen that character becomes the regular.
Also be careful with language like "Achievements" which means to me "Xbox Achievements" and those are always saved per profile, not character. I have no idea what happens say when a band goes platinum but some regular band members aren't there and some characters are stand ins. Complete mystery.
I would be joining under a slot that does have a "regular" band member already. I worked it out. I removed the original band member and then added the character I wanted. You're right about poor word choice. I meant character specific rewards (glowing online, instrument awards, etc.) but its all good now since I was able to switch the characters. As far as the achievements go I'm all good there as well since the character I wanted in the band was made on the same profile as the leader. I would have gotten them on the profile I play on regardless.

Good to know that's how you switch around regulars, basically join when there's no assigned regular for that slot (usually by "kicking that regular out of the band").

From someone who has done it yes! See I am the leader of the band and my best friend came over. She is not a member of the band but played the endless setlist with me. At the end she got the acheivement and also the gold emblem for finishing on hard. So yes you will get it as a sub and all the world will see!
Hope this helps:D

That's good to know. Come to think of it, I've never wondered about this, but now that you all mention it, thanks for the tip!
I'm glad its all worked out. Thanks for everyone's help. The issues with band leader and members is quite confusing sometimes. One more mystery cleared up!

We're going to hold off until we can at least do everything on hard, I think... 58 songs in a row is going to be a heartache on my kids to watch us with. If I get too impatient (happens way too much) we may try it on medium, but the length of the set list makes me want to hold off...
how does DLC affect the endless set list? Does it increase in length to include all music you have?

DLC does not affect the endless setlist.
