Well the 18th is the last 'known' DLC pack so I was just wondering if anything else was planned. Can we expect a new list of songs for the following month? Is anything special going to be released the following Tuesday (Xmas)? Can you give us any dirt on what the plan is pleeease :D

No specific songs have been announced I don't think, but I would expect something for Christmas.

You dare to mock Wham?? Not only were they a great band, but Last Christmas is one of my all-time faves! Damn, I wish this song was true!

Damn, I wish this song was true!
You wish that last christmas you gave a girl your heart and the very next day she gave it away and that this year you are giving it to someone special? Or did you mean that you wish it really was coming out for Rock Band?
And I actually like Wham too :D Wake me up before you go go is classic.

You know what would be the most awesomest thing ever? Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Bruce Springsteen. The singer must also do that pre-song banter stuff.

Well, Guitar Hero III just announced that they are going to have a free Christmas song (We Three Kings) available before the end of the year. Maybe Rock Band will do something similar to compete...

All we've heard out of HMX over the last three weeks is the sound of tumbleweeds blowing down an old western town street. It's kind of discouraging.

I just read this on www.cnn.com
Due to the increasing demand for company executives to release information in a timely manner the video game titan "Electronic Arts" has hired 6 million new employees. In quote, CEO and President Jonathan Doe said the following: "Well, our customers demand we let them know every single thing. It's gotten to the point that our customers don't actually play our games. They buy them and then get on the internet for 22.5 average hours a day to complain about how we do business. I'm personally ordering all 6,000,145 of our Harmonix employees to track down the serial numbers of every customer and visit them in thier homes. We will now have a Harmonix employee in every household that owns a copy of our hit game "Rockband" so that they can sit around all day answering questions."
Looks like there won't be any more of this ridiculousness.
Good move EA and Harmonix!

I concur with this statement.
However, considering that we haven't even recieved all the announced DLC's yet.. I just don't see any reason to run around in circles waving my arms.
I'd "like" to know.. but it's not that important, unless you are the type of person who may have to save up the 5 or so bucks a month ahead of time...
Personally.. if they are going to do anything for Christmas I would actually PREFER it be a Christmas day surprise.
As for now.. I'm just stoked about TOMORROW'S Downloads. The rest will come when they come, and I still haven't 5 starred all the current DLC I have anyway.

The information age has spoiled everyone. Everyone has to have answers to everything RIGHT NOW!!!
God, I never thought I'd be reminiscing about the "good old days" when I was 25! But really, I remember when you wouldn't hear a peep about a game until just before it's release. After it's release (even if it had a million and one problems) you wouldn't hear another word about it in the press (you would just have to put up with your other video game buddies complaining about this piece of crap).
Anymore if a company doesn't issue a statement every hour on the hour people panic and claim that companies are ignoring their customers and start demanding information.
The information age has effectively destroyed everyone's patience.
Honestly, yes it'd be nice to know what's coming up for DLC. HOWEVER, it's not the end of the world if we don't hear anything prior to it's release. Besides, aren't surprises better?
P.S. SSPWOLF that was a brilliant press release. You should really go into writing these things for companies.

Things have changed. Companies need to put more effort into communications.

Really? Have they?
Tell me of another company that releases a game then releases regular updates to it's fans?
Activision? They've been insanely silent on the myriad of issues in GH III
EA Sports? Nope, they hardly say anything after the product is released
Ubisoft? Point me to press releases after games are released and I'll retract their name from this list
The point is that Harmonix has gone well and above what the "normal" game companies do in terms of customer service. If you can't be patient and wait for releases then that is your own problem.

I don't claim to be a patient person. Now, why release a massive list of DLC up until Dec 18 and then .... nothing? Silence doesn't strike me as a way to build word of mouth and excitement.

Maybe they want future updates to be surprises. It's not such a hard concept. They built up initial excitement with the initial announcement, now unannounced DLC is very exciting because we don't know what's coming up. Every week will be an absolute surprise. Sure, some may be a slight let down. But just think, when something you really love comes up it'll be that much more exciting not knowing beforehand!

LMAO.. you nailed it man. To get (slightly) off subject....
I'm not "old" damnit... (I'm 30 years YOUNG) but I recall having dozens of conversations just like that at work. I'm in the Navy and now-a-days we have full-time internet access. During certain operations we have to cut all email and internet (for obvious reasons) and MAN do people cry when that happens. When they gotta go ONE day without sending/recieving email they are having fits. It wasn't too long ago that you had to wait until you ship pulled into a port to get snail mail (which took about a month to FPO/AP arrive) and then you wrote a letter back (which took about a month) and so on and so forth.
With video games it's the same way... I remember before I could scower IGN for every tiny little press release I used to go to the local video game store and see a poster and go "OH MAN THAT GAME LOOKS SWEET!" then buy it. No reviews, no previews.... that's how I ended up buying games like "Kabuki Warriors" on Xbox and a slew of absolutely horrible games on SNES and PS1.
Now.. I play the demo on Xbox Live or read about 30 user reviews for most games.
To be honest with you though.. sometimes I miss walking into a game store and not knowing what cool games I might find. Nothing will ever beat standing in front of a giant shelf of games and saying "Hmm. I wonder if this game is any good?" then buying Resident Evil and taking it home and having my friends go "What the hell is that? A horror game?" ............ and thinking I was one of the luckiest gamers on the planet for finding that game that I'd never heard of!

I for one hope that they don't release info on dlc more than a week in advance, if at all. Kind of like "Next week, on Rock Band....." Mystery is half of the fun. That's why I'm so excited for the movie Cloverfield. Better not suck............ A Refused pack or a Slayer pack suddenly showing up would be killer.

But, yeah, I'm happy with my 71 song list. I remember playing GHII for days, trying to master that damn 5th button. Damn you Orange. Damn you to hell!!

I, for one, think that a pack of Christmas songs would be the perfect thing to release. There are hundreds of public domain songs that they could arrange for Rock Band and not have to worry at all about licensing.
Just grab WaveGroup and turn 'em loose with just two words of instruction: "be creative".
Then it's back to business-as-usual on the following week.

I just wanted to say that the absolute...most perfect set of Christmas songs for rockband would in fact be ANY of the Christmas songs done with the Trans Siberian Orchastra and savatage.
ESPECIALLY Wizards of Winter and Carol of the Bells...

Or they could make it use a lot of "dum's" and "duh's" for vocals.. or just use vocals for cowbell and tamborine... ;) Maybe they could do something cute where it's more like a harmonica part!
Now, Wizards of Winter is definitely an instrumental (duh).. but TSO actually have songs where people sing.

Yeah, cause my wife wants to watch me rock out to a song on guitar or drums for 8 minutes while she taps the microphone 300 times.
I'd be willing to be these forums would EXPLODE with hate if the next DLC pack announced was "Acapella Hits!" Songs with vocals only! ;)
I love TSO and the likes, but the game is ROCK BAND. There's plenty of songs already that are drum/guitar heavy where the singer barely has more than 10 lines as it is.
Of course you can say "Just don't download it then" but the idea here is that for every song they (hypothetically) put up for DLC that doesn't realize the FULL rock band experience we're missing out on a song that DOES.

You know, personally I think it would be better if they had some songs that went like this....
For each dlc pack, three songs....
You have one that focuses on drums, one on guitar and one on vocals.
I still say for Christmas....TSO would work well. Carol of the bells would be awesome to play. YOU CANT DENY THAT.
Lol....the vocalist can do Christmas bells with the mic or something. It's not like it's a long song anyway.

Personally I think they should do this with the whole packs.
Example: Metallica is good for guitar and drums.... not so much for vocalists unless you are a HUGE metallica fan. Black Sabbath is good for guitar, but it's not exactly insane on the drums or anything... slightly more fun on vocals than Metallica though.
Weezer is good for guitar and vocals (buddy holly will probably be EXTREMELY popular with singers)
The Nirvana Album should be a hit with drummers, Dave Grohl does a lot of fun stuff on that album.
I'm hoping they release something that's obviously fun for the vocalists. Sublime would be a blast to sing for just about anyone, Cake might even be fun (especially for those of us who can't sing on expert but still like to sing), 80s glam rock would be ridiculously fun. All those hair-band songs that people thought were stupid on the GH games would be a blast to SING. I don't care who you are... singing "Smokin' In The Boys Room" or "Nothin' But A Good Time" would be FUN.

There is a big difference, there are tons of instrumental rock, but not very much A cappella rock. Instrumentals would be nice for those of use that have the power trio set up (guitar, base and drums with one of them doubling as vocalist).
