View Full Version : Lego Rock Band song predictions.

With LRB being confirmed as exportable, anyone wanna take bets on songs that will be on the setlist? (besides the ones confirmed of course.)
Please have some reasoning behind your songs. No Ultimate Setlist material here.
My predictions:
"Time of the Season"- The Zombies
We recieved two of their songs, but not their biggest single. Much like Tom Petty, I'm sure this is the classic case of 2 DLC, 1 on disc.
"Zombie"- The Cranberries
We recieved Linger over the equally popular and infinitely more fun to play Zombie. I highly doubt HMX would license one without the other, and it seems like a good song for this game (with the whole challenges aspect of the game, they could have a lego zombie or something).
"Somebody to Love"- Jefferson Airplane
Again, I doubt HMX licensed just one song from them. This is a pretty recognizable song, and would be fun to play for children and adults both.
Of course, any of these songs could show up in RB3 instead.

No Doubt - Trapped in a Box
It's the only song from The Singles that hasn't shown up as DLC.

Umm, guessing songs is Ultimate Setlist material.
-Edit- Also, Lego [Export] is still only rumored. There hasn't been anything official from HMX, just the leak.

Not if they have some logic behind them, much like the weekly prediction thread. Mods can feel free to move it if I'm wrong though.

Wait! There are rumors of a Lego Rock Band? The humanity!
So I'd say Dancing With Myself - Billy Idol and Burning Down the House - Talking Heads for the same reason as your predictions.

So I'd say Dancing With Myself - Billy Idol and Burning Down the House - Talking Heads for the same reason as your predictions.
While those could both be true, both of those artists had songs on RB2 as well. So it could have been a case of HMX licensing a Talking Heads six pack and deciding to put Psycho Killer on disc. Although it is odd that they left out Burning Down the House.

Wouldve been Buddy Holly but we already have that.

This'd be a good game for a few bands to make a comeback:
B-52's - Rock Lobster
Devo - Whip It
Kiss - Rock And Roll All Night
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get
The Go-Go's - Vacation
Also, I won't make specific song guesses, but here are some bands that seem likely to me, based on the sort of songs they produce:
All-American Rejects (Swing Swing?)
Barenaked Ladies (One Week?)
Journey (Separate Ways? Stone In Love? I dunno)
R.E.M. (It's the End of the World as We Know It?)
Freezepop (Science Genius Girl?)
Also, while not a returning Rock Band artist, Joe Esposito's "You're The Best" (from The Karate Kid) would be a great fit for this game
SonicRocker15X
09-01-2009, 12:52 AM
Actually, seeing the way things are working with that setlist, combined with the way it'd work with RB2:
B-52's - Rock Lobster (We've had a semi-confirmation of more of them, it's an incredibly recognizable song, and pretty fun to play)
Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla (It's, again, one of their most recognizable songs, and would finish off a tour challenge as their third song)
R.E.M. - (It's The) End of the World As We Know It (Seriously, I hate to use the "very popular hit, not yet in RB, would round off a challenge" card, but it fits SO WELL with SO MANY SONGS)
avalanchefan84
09-01-2009, 01:17 AM
Peter Gabriel- "Sledgehammer" - a popular song by someone who hasn't been in RB yet plus they could have construction workers breaking blocks with sledgehammers.
Weezer- "Island in the Sun"- I would have guessed Pork and Beans would have been the Weezer song for this game but it came as dlc. There are plenty of lego sets that involve palm trees and boats so they could incorporate that into the background.
Sammy Hagar- "I Can't Drive 55"- Im not sure if there is already an opening song for this game but it would fit with the car openings the regular rockband games get.

Paramore - Misery Business
Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance
Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows
Ramones - Rock N Roll High School
Weezer - Beverly Hills
R.E.M. - (It's The) End of the World As We Know It
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion
Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
And I think we'll see tracks from Nirvana, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn and The Raconteurs. Well maybe not a few of those but Iggy Pop, Elton John and Tom Petty are already in.

why yes I would (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142925)
Also, you can count all of these bands out from being in Lego.
Reason being we got the newly leaked songs from the GH5 comparison chart, so we know all of the songs we're getting from the GH5 bands for the next few months.

Burning Down The House - Talking Heads (odd omission from Talking Heads pack - most well-known song by them and fits in with general theme of building/destroying things).
Shiny Happy People - R.E.M. (Legos are a kind of shiny, happy person, right? If not, ITEOTWAWKI (AIFF) or Stand are possibilites).
Dashboard - Modest Mouse (fun modern indie track - if Float On weren't already in RB2 I would have said that)
DARE - Gorillaz (to me, anyway, an odd omission from the Gorillaz pack - could find its way into L:RB)
Rock Lobster - B-52s (A B-52s song was promised over a year ago in an interview with Fred Schneider - L:RB seems a good platform for more B-52s to be released).
Skittles
09-01-2009, 02:01 AM
Aerosmith - Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
Cheap Trick - I Want you to Want Me (Live)
Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls
Judas Priest - Living After Midnight
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
Michael Jackson - Dont Stop 'Til You Get Enough
Rick James - Super Freak
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized
Third Eye Blind - Semi Charmed Life
U2 - Vertigo
Weezer - Island in the Sun
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
The Who - The Kids Are Alright
most of it, just hopeful wishing, some of them might actually get a place in LRB

I'm betting on Love Shack. It's always played at our dances at school, and it's more well known by our generation. (thats up for debate thanks to Family Guy)
But I would prefer Rock Lobster.

It's for kids do you know what zombie is about, war, what did you think the phrase "in your head" meant shes refering to getting shot in the head. But theres a chance it could be in it but still.

Exactly.
I don't know why people are still predicting teen to adult material for a songlist that is aimed at KIDS. CHILDREN, people.
Kids are NOT going to sing about death, about sex (explicit or suggestive), about drugs, about booze or any of that stuff. And they're not going to sing sad songs or slow songs.

True, it's a protest song about violence, but I don't think it has anything to do with getting shot in the head. And I wouldn't necessarily rule it out, kids (and adults) would have a ton of fun with this song.
A lot of the other predictions on here make a lot of sense though, I'd love to see songs like Rock Lobster and Vacation. Whip It, something by Journey, One Week all make a lot of sense too...

My thinking was that Rock Lobster is a whimsical song where Love Shack is a bit "suggestive" for a kids game, but I could see them overlooking that and using the more popular song.
Also, I'm personally hoping that they save Love Shack for a game with 3-part harmonies, since it's really not the full experience if you don't have multiple vocalists on that song.

Still sticking with "Brick House" by The Commodores. Need more funk in these games, anyways.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5EmnQp3V48
"Sliver" by Nirvana would be a good Nirvana song to have in a game of this theme, a song about a common childhood experience (nothing explicit, either!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfIuPSRS2tk
Then of course, Spongebob Squarepants with Goofy Goober Rock. We need more Spongebob, there's Spongebob LEGO sets and it would be perfect for a less serious game for all audiences.

Okay, first..as much as this is a 'kids' game I don't think the theme or topic of the song is taken into consideration unless is very obvious (Like Nirvana's 'Rape Me'). So I'm thinking if it's catchy and kids sing along with it is game. Like Pink's 'So What'.
All American Rejects-'Swing Swing'
B-52's-'Love Shack'
Billy Idol-'Dancing With Myself'
Devo-'Whip It'
Fall Out Boy-'Dance Dance' or 'Sugar...'
Fleetwood Mac-'Rhainnon'
Foo Fighters-'Big Me'
Freeze Pop-'Get Ready 2 Rokk'
Grateful Dead-'Touch Of Grey'
Nirvana-'Lithium'
R.E.M.-'Stand' (Only because Micheal Stipe hates 'Shiny Happy People')
Talking Heads-'Burning Down The House'
The Zombies-'Time Of The Season'
That's all I can think of right now.

The hard part is that some of these songs might be being saved for RB3 but apparently Lego maybe where the songs appear first.
For me DLC that is missing obvious great songs include:
Rush: Spirit of Radio- We know HMX has a ton of their songs I would be shocked if one does not appear. Plus Geddy sounds a bit like Mickey Mouse so he is kid friendly for sure
Fall Out Boy- Dance, Dance- Kid friendly and on the leaked list
Cranberries- Zombie- agree with OP
The Zombies- Time of the Season- agree with OP
Talking Heads- Burning Down the House- great Talking Heads song and great for the game
John Lennon- Instant Karma- I know HMX says no solo Beatles stuff in TBRB, but I would be surprised if they were unable to get a song or two for the other games. I think this Lennon song is a very good family song
Bob Dylan- All Along the Watchtower or Knocking on Heavan's Door. No Bob Dylan DLC yet, you have to know they have something hidden away. Either of these would work and make the parents who have to watch LEGO happy.

I'll add:
The Jam - That's Entertainment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqiXf0WxDPQ) to give The Jam 3 songs
And some of the ones from previos posts that seem really likely to me:
The Zombies - Time of the Season
B-52s - Rock Lobster (or Love Shack)
Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
Devo - Whip It
Kiss - Rock And Roll All Night

Since Rock Band Lego is supposed to be a family oriented game...
Aretha Franklin - Respect - Respect is something that every parent should teach their children.
Cindy Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Every father needs reminder on occasion that their daughters will sometimes do stupid things. Like getting pregnant in school.
Village People - YMCA (or Macho Man) - Kids love uniforms. Also, every father sometimes needs reminder that even if their sons come out of the closet, it's ok to still love them.

Oh shizz.
Seriously, pretty much every game with Limp Bizkit gets an automatic DO NOT WANT. Have you even heard Fred Durst live- or (shudder) met him in person? For one, they have to distort his voice to make it sound bearable, and even then he sounds bad.
Also, I've met him. What a self-absorbed poser. I'd much rather have MMMBop by Hanson in there. Anyone remember that song?

I think the chances of Nirvana coming anywhere near LEGO are slim to none.
There's not ONE song in the Nirvana discography that's kid friendly. Yeah, not every song features 4-letter words, but every single one is heavy, usually depressing as hell, and deals with subject matter ranging from rape to incest to drugs to murder....

Of the many posts listed so far, the only ones I agree with that are likely to pass the Kid-Friendly Lego Test:
Hanson -- MMBop
Power Rangers Theme
Weird Al -- Dare To Be Stupid

Cyndi Lauper -- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Village People -- YMCA
Ramones -- Rock N Roll High School

R.E.M. (It's the End of the World as We Know It?)
Freezepop (Science Genius Girl?)
Also, while not a returning Rock Band artist, Joe Esposito's "You're The Best" (from The Karate Kid) would be a great fit for this game
You're the best would be awesome in a strange nerdy sort of way I cant describe

Journey - seem kid friendly, catchy songs
Seether - for some reason I feel them in this game, a nice heavy track to throw in without being too heavy
Jimmy Eat World - another very radio friendly band that I think will do well with kids
Red Hot Chili Peppers - popular and mellow to make for a good track, probably Can't Stop
Billy Idol - Dancing with Myself is an obvious choice here
Bloc Party - great Indie band, Banquet will be fun on everything and I bet kids will like it
Three Days Grace - see Seether, heavy band that would probably make it, although not too heavy
Earth Wind and Fire - another one of there tracks will be popular
Wild Cherry - Play that Funky Music could definately show up here, catchy song, well known, kids will have fun playing it.

Earth Wind and Fire - another one of there tracks will be popular
"September," please!
In fact, they could just pull in the entire setlist of Elite Beat Agents (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_Beat_Agents#Track_listing) and they'd all be pretty much perfect:
# Steriogram - "Walkie Talkie Man" (Dumb but fun)
# Sum 41 - "Makes No Difference" (Would work)
# Avril Lavigne - "Sk8er Boi" (Annoying song, but would be entertaining to play, and kids like it)
# Freddie Mercury/Queen - "I Was Born to Love You" (They've got enough Queen already)
# Stray Cats - "Rock This Town" (Perfect fit for the game)
# Deep Purple - "Highway Star" (Already in Rock Band)
# Village People - "Y.M.C.A." (Not sure how this'd play instrument-wise, but it'd fit the game)
# Earth, Wind and Fire - "September" (Yes please)
# Jamiroquai - "Canned Heat" (Not sure about the instruments again, but it'd be fun)
# Madonna - "Material Girl" (This would work)
# Ashlee Simpson - "La La" (This one is a bit suggestive and is also a really stupid song, but could still work)
# Chicago - "You're the Inspiration" (YES PLEASE)
# David Bowie - "Let's Dance" (Already in the game)
# Good Charlotte - "The Anthem" (Everybody hates this song except me, but you know it would be a blast in the game)
# Hoobastank - "Without a Fight" (Would be fun)
# The Rolling Stones - "Jumpin' Jack Flash" (YEEEEEEEEEEES)

I think the chances of Nirvana coming anywhere near LEGO are slim to none.
There's not ONE song in the Nirvana discography that's kid friendly. Yeah, not every song features 4-letter words, but every single one is heavy, usually depressing as hell, and deals with subject matter ranging from rape to incest to drugs to murder....
ain't gonna happen
Breed made it on GH:OT what is rated E. Other songs that made it in the Ot series. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_the_Guitar_Hero:_On_Tour_series#G uitar_Hero_On_Tour:_Modern_Hits_setlist)

I don't think they'd put Misery Buisness in LRB saying that she calls the other girl a "whore, nothing more". I'd think Decode would be more likely since most of the kids probably watched Twilight, and that has become super popular.

I would think so, that's gotta be the most well-known one, and a huge omission from the pack.
I'm trying to think of some other recent packs that had some seemingly major omissions. Here are a couple:
Foreigner - The pack was a few months back, but it was noticeably missing their big hits (Cold as Ice, Double Vision, Head Games, Hot Blooded) HMX Could be saving them for another pack though.
.38 Special - they were touring with Styx and REO Speedwagon. They were a minor 3rd billing on the tour, but a huge omission from the tour pack, IMO. Hold on Loosely or Caught Up in You would be perfect. (please, please, please HMX)

Where was From First to Last leaked from?
1.The Madden 09 soundtrack was once (non HMX) confirmed to be coming to RB. Since then 5 songs from Madden 09 have actually come to RB. HMX can deny all they want but apparently it was the truth but its just not in a "madden pack". With that said "Worlds away" is on Madden 09
2.Travis Richter (FFTL Rythym guitarist/Screaming vocals) himself told me "I'm pretty sure we got some songs coming to rock band yeah" when I asked him about it
3.When FFTLs self titled album 1st came out , they got their songs on like 10 assorted EA games , and even have themselves as playable characters in the EA game "Facebreaker". They even recorded instrumental songs for EAs Red Alert 3. They have a big deal with EA.
Furthermore , "Worlds away" could fit with Lego RB its fairly poppy and free of any objectionable lyrics so it could definantley work for the game
Coincedentally , the long time confirmed for RB Snoop Dogg , is also featured in Facebreaker
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3hs8qBF-NQ&feature=PlayList&p=0C249F557BDD8F8C&index=17
The FFTL facebreaker videos :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pLncXt00Sg

I am absolutley certain FFTL will appear in RB one way or another , with AT LEAST "Worlds away" EVENTUALLY , but someone(s) at EA LOVE FFTL so I expect at least a 3 pack , or even the possibility of them being the 1st real legit 00s band to get a full album in RB

You REALLY think those lyrics would fly in a rated E video game?
Also I strongly disagree with you , FFTL the way they are right now is just as good , actually better imo than they have ever been.

Hate to necro-quote, but this would effect that sales as well: Most people who are just like "LOLFAIL LEGOS NOWAI" will simply wait for the DLC.
That, combined with the fact that other people besides HMX are developing it and would likely want a cut as well.

The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl, if this song isn't on their i'll be very suprised since we already have confirmation on The White Stripes DLC and the nature of the music video for the song I would think it just fit's. Also it's been awhile since we have heard from Paramore so I would expect at least one song from them my money's on Decode, Misery Buisness, or Ignorance though.

If we do get paramore i do hope its For A Pessimest, I'm Pretty Optimistic. I don't understand everyone's love over Misery Business. Yeah its a good song but the one i mentioned is soooo much better.
And Snitsky, i have heard most of their newer stuff. I still think there intensity has dropped. They just dont have the same "feel" and "vibe" that they used too. Its not a matter of screaming. I don't know. There just not the same, and i think most FFTL fans will agree (not you obviously) :D
