Fox is Rebooting Fantastic Four
Source:Variety August 31, 2009
Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has begun overhauling the "Fantastic Four" movie franchise to take the Marvel property beyond the two films already made.
Akiva Goldsman has been hired to oversee the reboot as producer. Michael Green, the co-exec producer of TV's "Heroes" who co-wrote Green Lantern, will write the script for the new Fantastic Four film.
The 2005 Fantastic Four and 2007 sequel "Rise of the Silver Surfer" were directed by Tim Story and starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. Since the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it is unclear if any of them will return.
Fox controls the "Fantastic Four" movie franchise in perpetuity -- as long as it continues making the films. Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement.

So they really need to make a reboot like 4 years after the first one was made?
Wow.

FF has always been one of my least favorite Marvel groups.

Meh, the only FF member that's even remotely cool is Sue Storm. If they get any actress other than Alba to do her, I may go see the next one.

Fantastic Four has always been pretty lame to me, besides the early original comics.

However, while the FF are mostly lame, Dr. Doom is full of win.

I'm alone here, but I enjoyed both FF's.
But do we already need a reboot?

Dr. Doom is full of win, but the F4 themselves are all pretty lame besides Grimm.

FF4 are actually great chars in the Comics, and there is potential there for a great story lines if taken advantage of in the right way. Like making Galactus real instead of a frigging mist or cloud like they did in Rise...i mean come on teh lames.

Actually you're not. I liked both very much too.
Kind of why I said that it was pointless to reboot a movie that is like 4 years old.

I liked Michael Chiklis as Ben/Thing. I hope they keep him.

Then I feel sorry for you missing out on one of the greatest mediums in all of art.

Eh, too many dang reboots going round. Hollywood is getting even lazier which is just pitiful. Too early for a reboot if at all.
We need to reboot the reboot of Star Trek. :p
