No they aren't. The dock is in one area, the taskbar is in another. They're split up and take up real estate.

I used to use the poster for Hard Rain (from L4D2) on my laptop. Now I'm on a computer so old we had to buy XP to install on it. My desktop is just the recycle bin, a white background and the words "I'll kill you." Keeps me moving forward.
