Hey, i'll be getting Rockband in the next few days and was hoping to have some questions answered.

1. How Long can Band & Character names be?

2. How many different bands can you have?

3. Do you have to have 4 people to do BWT? Like could me and a friend do it as drums&guitar?

not sure about 1 and 2 but to 3 yes you do it with 2-4

Sorry, i asked two opposite questions...was that a yes to you have to do it with 4 people or a yes to you can do it with 2 3 or 4 people?

Yes you can play BWT with any number of instruments (including mic) from 2 to 4. I say instruments because some people are playing an instrument and singing at that same time to do their BWT.

Number of bands... plenty.

WOuld 10 be a good estimate?

I thought it was 99 bands per profile and (some other number here) maximum amount of bands that a single character can lead / be in.

If you look up your character's profile there's a space for bands he/she is a member of. I bet you can't have a character in more bands than there is space to list them.
