We've called, we've emailed, we've petitioned, and none of that seems to be working.
so here's what i propose.
Go to gamespot.com and log in with your account (If you don't have one, register)
Go to GH III for PS3
Rate it a 1.0
If you can, comment about the patch.
It's what gamespot users did to show dissapointment of the Gertsmann Firing.
If it's dumb sorry.

Wow, do you really think they're gonna care if USERS rate their game a 1.0? That's not gonna change how many copies it sold and what not, so why should they care?

It will have some effect, at least that on people who buy games based on how a review site rates them. But most people either read the full review (very few by the actual users) or neglect sites like these all together and base a game's quality on their own opinion.

People who do that are no better than Activision themselves. There's nothing you can do about it so just wait and let them figure it out.

Actually user ratings may actually effect the number of copies sold. Most professional reviews are horrible so many people go to the reader reviews instead. And to help out let me list all the flaws in GH3 on PS3 that I know off.
-Guitar only works with one game and one game only, not even prior installments of the GH series.
-Lag is uncorrectable and because of this they made the target window for hitting notes way to large.
-Lag is caused by poor RF implementation, No audio lag control (at least not originally there may be a patch for this)
-The Two piece guitar design causes connections to be lost between the fret buttons and the game.
-Note charts are nowhere near the real songs
-Some songs can only be unlocked if you play coop career.
-Battle Mode is an add on that does not actually add any value to the game.
- Very few of the songs actually have guitar solos let alone good ones.
Thats all for now.

Do you seriously believe that a consumer can't get what he wants with a little bit of work?

The only thing to do is to keep *****ing and complaining like crazy to both companies. Maybe even Sony too. Activision and Harmonix are both taking stances like the other one is in the wrong, well guess what, they're both wrong because the customers are still losing, sort the damn thing out.

This is not necessarily true, unless you know something that the rest of us don't. If Activision is asking for something complete unreasonable (which to most of us is anything at all) then Harmonix is in the right by telling them to piss off. You do realize that even if a patch did come out the licensing on the Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul still makes it a violation to use it with a Game not published by Activision. If you can't see who actually cares about the consumer and who doesn't then I can't really help you.

One word "No"
Only a stupid person would do this. And if you do do this, I seriously doubt your intelligence.

Best thing to do is keep calling them since it costs them money. Hit em where it hurts.

I actually DO base my video game purchases off of user ratings. I'm a parent and not some teenager who just has to have the next big video game release. I do my research before I throw down $50/60 of my hard earned money.
I agree with going to IGN and Gamespot and rating GHIII as a 1.0 and listing the various reasons why.
I got rid of my BROKEN version of GHIII today. The darned dongle quit working after 10 days of owning it. We played it ONE DAY and quit because the lag was so horrible.
