G'day,

I'm not quite sure if this has already been discussed, but I think it's a pretty important subject. I know a lot of people who are going to buy this game, and it's going to be a blast. There is an issue though, half of these people own PS3s and the other half XBOX360s. What I would like to see is the ability to use the 360 controllers on a PS3 and vice versa.

Each console has its own propriety wireless hardware. The answer to my question is probably a big "No, it's impossible". But wouldn't there be some way around it? Has the developers thought of this issue?

If there's no way around it, it's a big let down. It's going to be really hard to coordinate play sessions when half of the people can't bring/use their own controllers.

No, it's impossible unless you want the instruments to cost almost 2x as much as they normally would.

Why would it be impossible? If the RB guitar\drums\mic used Bluetooth (yes, the same Bluetooth as your cell phone) they could just sell a separate USB Bluetooth adapter for the 360 and voila, same controllers are able to work on both systems (the PS3 uses Bluetooth natively for its wireless peripherals). There may be other technical differences, but I don't see any glaring reasons why it wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft won't allow anything wireless on the Xbox 360 except for their proprietary interface. The only way it could work is if they included the guts for both wireless interfaces and made a toggle switch... which as Kaboobi said, would drive the costs and therefore the price through the roof. It just isn't feasible.

It isn't really possible. We did look into it. It would be awesome but it is a no go due to specific requirements for each system.

I'm more worried about its compatibility with my bank account :(

Thank you for your answer.

This will turn off a lot of people I know. =(

I would imagine most people are going to have the peripherals themselves... I personally wouldn't simply buy a guitar for the game. I'll have all the periphs, and i expect that most people buying the game will too. It's probably not worth the money to make it all compatible when you consider that

How? almost everyone will buy it to play on one system anyways

It's already been confirmed that they have to have separate peripherals for each system. They stated that it's because of the type of processors to work for the Xbox.

The Ps3 obviously has it's own technology.

And the Wii, rumored still, has put the little Wiimote thing in the neck of the GH controllers.

Also the reason why the Xbox guitar is looking to cost more than the Ps3 one.

I don't have a nex gen system yet... Im not even considering the wii because the games are just not my type, and PS3 is so damn expensive + no games yet... 360 seems like the best platform and I was all over ps3 before it actually hit.

It's against the TOS to start a console war, but go for the 360!

lol nice little addition at the end...and its all fun here...nobody is really going to get at eachothers throats over wich is better...for this game...or in general for that matter...if they do...they're extreamly stupid

Yea, it's relatively all gonna be the same gameplay. Just be sure you have what most of your friends have really.

Anyway, this thread has been hijacked lol I think it's pointless to talk about the peripherals being cross platform, it's known it can't happen now.
