Do the PS3 instruments work for the ps2?

hey i was wondering if i should buy a ps3 bundle and the ps2 game because i want to play it over the holidays and harmonix cant make up its mind on when to release it for ps2, has anyone done that instead of waiting for the 18th or when ever it gets released for ps2?

I would assume so. I was watching an interview that talked about the PS2 instruments working for the PS3.

I dont think the PS2's usb slots are for controllers. So i doubt they would work.

I was one of the unlucky who preordered from another place online (I won't name names) and had to break it to my kids that they weren't getting it for Christmas because everyone else had stopped taking preorders on the PS2 bundle. Soooo, to make a long story short, we picked up the PS2 game and the PS3 bundle, along with a 4-port Hub, plugged it in and it WORKS! I have some happy kids who got one of their presents a little early and all is well in the world again.:) They're playing it as I type this.

So, to answer your question? Yes, it will work. (A note to add, we have the second generation PS2 so I'm not sure if that will make a difference)

And everything works fine on my launch-day, first-gen PS2
