Check your internet connection... It's your router or cables.

Well I was changing but you know I did put M$ and you can remove horribleness and arrogance but how the hell do you remove fanboyism? :D haha

Anyway mate yh good luck with your PS3. I admit that on the Boxing Day and 27th after Xmas I got 360 I had DNS trouble too haha. Double edged knife.

I googled your error number and two fixes came up.

Make sure you have the right WEP key punched in.

Go to network connections tab on the PS3 XMB and disable the wireless connection and then just enable it again.

Those were the only two things I could find.

The only problem is that your PS3 is not properly connected to your Router.
I usually set all my devices behind my router as a static connection, so I can forward the necessary ports to the devices that need them.

If you log into your router to gather all the information you can set a static connection for your PS3.

How you can go about doing this?
Goto your PC and open a command window...
Start > Run
type as follows... cmd
Press Enter

You will now see a black box with a blinking cursor
type as follows... ipconfig /all
Press Enter

You will now have a Plethora of information to work with.
Your info will differ from mine, but the concept is the same if you follow using your own info.

Mine are as follows...

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 204.127.203.135
216.148.225.135
The only difference between your PS3 and your PC will be the IP Address.
Since mine is 192.168.1.100 you can change the last octal to pretty much whatever you want, so I made my PS3 192.168.1.2 as a static connection. Everything else will be the same as the PC info Gateway, DNS, Subnet Mask.

Yours might be 192.168.0.100 or even 10.1.1.100 or whatever. It all depends on your router config. If you know the Default Gateway you can use that address to log into your router to manage it if need be. Copy the Default Gateway Address and paste it into your browser (IE, Firefox, Opera, or whatever) address bar.

Good luck.

Otherwise I would try and run a new Cat5 cable... If you're using a wired connection replace the cable.

For a few posts I thought I had posted this topic while sleepwalking or something, as I was having the exact same problem you are now. I can't say I figured out the problem, I hooked up everything correctly (was using a wireless router as opposed to wired) and everything else connected fine. So I tried shutting off the router, waiting 5 seconds, and turning it back on. For some odd reason it worked fine after that and I haven't had any problems with it since.

You're gonna have to take it up with the Schools IT to figure out why it's not working then.

Re-establish your connection under your Connection settings on the PS3. This should renew your IP, all should work after this.

I've had this problem as well, and it's a simple fix. Just do what I said. Might even be able to run a connection test and it could possibly fix it. Try the test first and if it doesn't work, re-establish your network.

I was kidding too, I thought that the smiles in post would have made it obvious... but yeah DNS errors have to do with your internet connection more than your console. RRoDs are a serious matter though, sorry to hear you been down that road.

I hear that PS3 failure rate is more so than the newest 360s but I dunno. Anyone got a clue? I need some ammonition against the one bloke I know who has a PS3 everyone else is a wii/360 lad :P

Honestly? Really?

Look at the failure rate of the 360, now look at the PS3. Which do you hear about/is more common? That will be your answer.
