do I need a gold account

I really wanna play And Justice For All but was wondering whether I'd need gold or if Silver works.

Silver is OK, gold is only for playing online. With silver you can download anything... you do have to wait a week now though for any new downloads before you can download them.

so say I connect with a silver membership tonight, I could download the additional songs if I wanted but I wouldn't be able to be shown on the leaderboards for anything, right? This XBOX live stuff is confusing.

With the new dash board, you have to wait a week with silver membership before new DLC is avaliable. So way week 1 DLC pack 1 is avaliable, Silver membership has to wait until week 2. It was in the patch notes for X-Box live. Just giving one more benefit to gold members....:D

Why do the PS3 owners always bring this up? I mean what relevance does this have? How is this helping anyone?

Sorry, I just feel for the folks with Silver that have to wait a week for something they are going to pay for. Especially since when they got the console they were promised Gold would only be required for online play. Now MS is going and shafting them. It's not me being a fanboy, it's me feeling for the guys who never wanted Gold, but now are being crapped on because of that. The message to them is to pay $50 a year in order to pay MORE to get content.

hardly... We have the same service as before. Microsoft is just shafting others. That's not a benefit for us .

But Microsoft will do anything for money, and this is why I still haven't bought a 360.

It's still wrong. Don't have to wait a week for trailers. That'd be even stupider than what they're doing now. Anything that cost points and trailers will be available at the same time. Any in game content or demos will take a week. Like when I tryed to DL the Burnout demo it said upgrade to gold or wait. (Though it was a short wait since I went and downloaded it on PS3 instead,see what wonderful bussiness they're doing with this?)

Far as extra features such as leaderboards or uploading videos it seems to vary. Apprently can't upload vids in NCAA 08 but can in skate.,can't get roster updates in EA Sports games but can in 2K.

You can still view the leaderboards with a silver account! And it will still update your scores too, but it won't do this on gh3 unless you have a gold account. You should be able to download and DLC whenever it's up without waiting.

Pay attention, Silver members only have to wait a week for FREE stuff, not downloadble content they are have to pay for.

Silver doesn't get:
New Bioshock DLC
New Demos
Anything else free

So I'm right then? This means that the only new downside is that Silver members have to wait another 7 days to drool over a Halo 4 trailer or download the new Ace Combat 9 demo, which is of course stupid. Fileplanet does the same thing really, allowing members to get a demo or movie before the non-members. The fact that Microsoft marketed this as a new benefit to Gold members is of course insulting.

So all in all, no you don't need a Gold account to get DLC, you don't even get it later than the Gold members.

You can see yourself on the Leaderboard with silver.
