Lobo: The Movie - The Director is...

Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) has signed on to direct a live-action adaptation of the DC Comics series Lobo for Warner Bros. Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will produce.

I actually remember Sheriff Lobo. That and BJ and the Bear. Greg Evigan and a monkey... TV at it's finest.

I have no clue who Lobo is, but Guy Ritchie is my second favourite director all-time (seriously, go see Snatch, NOW.) so it should turn out to be a good movie.

Surprises me how little people know Lobo

He's pretty much a parody of the "anti-hero" craze 90s comics, to a very very insane degree. Kinda like DC's version of Deadpool, except crazier. Crazy in a "if every member of GWAR was made some ridiculous solitary character" way.

He's the last of his alien race because he killed everybody else. Drops of his blood reform into full clones of himself. He can smell people across the universe. He has his own time machine. And so on.

Yet it's all tongue in cheek. He's gotten in fights with Superman, The Mask, his 4th grade teacher, Santa Claus, and also been physically merged with Howard the Duck.

And he has a pod of Space Dolphins for pets, perhaps the only things he truly loves. Killing one of his beloved Dolphins is not a good thing.
