It seems just like yesterday, I was about 12 years old at the time. I could'nt afford a playstation 1 system so I had a Original Nintendo. The only place that would sell them is Gamestop. Didn't know if anyone else bought Nintendo games from Gamestop or does anybody remember those days?

...they sold them around here up until about 2 or 3 years ago I think. you can get them at Salvation Armies if you have them around.

Oh yeah back when they had them along side Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games. Back when games were actually good...
The only place you could find NES games would be the internet or a flea market or something, that's where I got mine for like 20 bucks.

This is true, your best bet is to track one down through craigslist or go to a flea market. Flea markets almost always have a gaming stand.

I remember when the game stores around here used to use colored stickers to mark the prices. There would be charts on the wall showing what each color meant.

I remember getting N64 games there packaged up like they were new when they were really used.

Too bad you guys dont live in Nebraska, there's a store here called Gamers. They sell all sorts of old and new games. I think i've even seen a couple atari games there.

There's all sorts of smaller independent game stores that sell older retro games. You could also check out a flea market for kicks.

One of my most vivid child hood memories was the day my dad took me to the game store so I could buy one game of my choosing. I only got like two games a year so it was a big deal.
I spent at least 30 minutes rooting around all the different colourful boxes making sure I got a game I'd really like. (I didn't do magazines.) I bought Earthbound, even though I had to convince him it was worth $59.99.

Earthbound is easily worth that...one of the best RPG's ever made.

there's a store that opened up in one of the malls around that sells alot of old games. NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Jaguar, etc. alot of it a bit pricey. I think i saw a SNES version of final fantasy VI for $85. but some of the consoles they sell are a bit weird. They have one that can play NES, SNES, and Genesis games. i think it's made by some Korean company though.

I really agree with this sentiment. I'm trying to get a friend started on RPGs and video games in general, and I plan on introducing her with Earthbound. :p

I actually got Earthbound last Christmas from my wonderful fiancee as well as Lufia 2, an SNES and NES.
It was a glorious day. I made her play and beat Earthbound and she loved it.

Nope. I shop at Gamers, a local outlet that still sells freakin' ATARI games.
EDIT: Ah, you have beaten me to the punch!

I remember like, 4 years ago, you could get N64 games REALLY cheap. It was awesome. Then one day they just decided to be mean and not accept them after a certain point. I mean, Pokemon Stadium for THREE DOLLARS!!!! Now if you want it, you have to pay like 20 on eBay plus waiting and shipping and handling.
