I'm not saying this is consistent with actual sales numbers but I was at gamestop today buying some dvds. WHile I was cashing out I asked the 3 employees behind the counter how they were handling the stand alone ps3 Rock band sales. You know asking ff they were warning people about the problem with activision. They all knew about the problem but said it never came up. I of coursed asked why. They pointed to s a stack of two PS3 Rock band bundles and said they've had those two bundles for two weeks and they've never sold a copy of the stand alone ps3 game. But are sold out constantly on both SKU's for 360. This is in NW Chicagoland.
SO of course now I wonder.

I've been finding something strange around here.. though I live in a strange place (Corpus Christi, TX).. every Gamestop in town is sold out of the PS3 bundles.. but at least two that I went to had 5 of the 360 bundles sitting in the middle of the store.. though I did find a place that had plenty of both bundles, that no one goes to anyways.. was looking for one for a friend, who decided he didn't want one anyways, and will just play at my house.. too bad he didn't get it, cause then we'd have two guitars :p

Why don't you leave the marketing and analytics to the people who get paid to do it. I don't mean to rain on your parade or anything, but you're obviously leaving out a lot of details and market statistics that aren't being factored into it, and I'm sure EA has a lot of people analyzing the sales statistics for Rock Band, especially this busy time of the year.

it's because there isn't a PS3 market.

sure, you've got a big chunk of PS3 players, but when it comes to multi-platform games, i'm sure developers ship less PS3 units than 360, which is why you're finding stores with 360 bundles. if a store has ps3 bundles, it's simply because no one has a ps3 in that area. i know that's the case here. PS3 bundles are becoming increasingly easier to find, yet 360 bundles (depending on where you look) are still a bit of a chore to hunt down.

PS3 RB sold like 70k in November.

360 version sold over 300k.

360 version sold over 300k.

There is no way in h**l that the 360 version sold 300,000 units of Rock Band in 2 weeks. There is simply no way. Somebody needs to ease up on the 0 button.

I am not saying that there are fewer 360 sales, because that is probably false, but don't blow it so much out of proportion.

Why not? Halo 3 sold millions the first day alone, it's very possible!

The November NPD said both versions of Rock Band sold 388,000 units, so if the PS3 SKU sold that low the 360 SKU must have sold 300k.

I just odreded my PS3 and was hoping to buy both rock band and guitar hereo 3. I figured I could use the GH3 guitar for rock band and vice versa haveing too very sweet games. It sounds like the 2 companies have really screwed the consumer and sony is staying out of it. Rock band is one of the main reasons I was buying a ps3 along with being a blue ray player. I am now serioulsy thinking about cancelling my order for the ps3 and getting and xbox since they don't seem to be having this issue.

I was at a party last night and they were using GH3 guitars with rock band and vice versa and having a blast a lot of people had a favorite guitar they liked to use.

How many other people have taken back their ps3 in favor of an xbox just because of this? Maybe if sony sees its their bottom line that is being hit , They will step in and either make their 3rd party people conform to an agreement of make a offical sony version guitar controller that the 3rd partys will have to live up to. Every controller I ever bought for ps2 has worked why can't this be the same?

Dude, don't make a console decision based on one game. If you want the PS3 for free internet play and blu-ray, go for it.

Singular guitars will be made for purchase in January or February.

The Strat for the 360 doesn't work on Guitar Hero 3.

So you'd switch consoles so you can just play the GH3 Les Paul on Rock Band?

Quit trusting VGcharts...it gives you rough estimate...Its no news the the 360 version is selling better...DUH there are more 360s out in the wild.Watch the ps2 version sales,I bet 20 bucks it outsells both of them combind in 2 weeks.

edit: So far its Ps3 81,383 units , 360 161,892 units sold...Long way away from 300,000 on the 360.

Heres some more numbers for you...at 159 bucks each this is how much money Rockband has made so far....

Sales in $$$ : $38,680,725

Not to shabby for 3 weeks.

the only problem is that they are not actually making that much.

How much is the cost of actually producing the game, reproducing in mass quantities, producing instruments, taking care of returns, so on and so forth.

I'm not saying it was your intention but I just felt like it was being put out there a little that Harmonix was doing it with no Vasoline.

They're making a pretty penny, for sure but I think that by the time you factor in all that they're having to pay for to put the game out there, they're probably making closer to $60 a bundle or something like that.

I have a friend who runs one of the game stores out there. He said clearly that their policy was to ONLY stock the Xbox versions of Rock Band. PS3 was "special order".

PS3 just isn't selling. That's the word on the streets. That's what you call a niche market.

Yeah, VGCharts is really whack for numbers. I dont see why people still use that place. I am pretty sure the 360 did sell more cause there are more 360's out there.

I live in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada

And while I was backing out of my Rock Band Pre-Order for the 360 (cuz i bought one from the states), I asked them how many pre-orders are there for PS3 and X360 for small talk.

360 - 2 (after deducting my pre-order)
PS3 - 10

How many SE's will they get? 5! 2 360's and 3 PS3's

Poor Canada, still short stocked, and still no Rock Band DLC!!!!

Uhh....No not vice versa. You can use the LP for RB on the 360.You can't use the RB strat on GH3.Activision have coded GH3 so only their LP will work with that game.
And the only reason the ps3 have these issues with controllers is because of activision locking up the LP.

Yeah I know,I was just saying total cash for all involved...Im sure harmonix has made a mill or 2 from the game though. And once again...my info is from VGcharts, which is pretty much a dude just guessing...No matter what they say.As for the ps3 being a niche market,Thats a bunch of crap.7 Million is no niche market...its in 3rd place sure...but would you call the gamecube a niche market?
