Nothing came up on the search engine, guess it's okay to post...
I am now having flashbacks of my friends singing the Cobra-La battle cry to the tune of the Smurf's theme song...

The animated favorite “The Smurfs” has a release date set for the film adaption of the children’s classic, December 17th, 2010, bringing a smile to “Smurf” fans around the world.

The film is a combination of live-action footage and CGI special effects that will depict the lovable blue creatures in a “smurfy” 3-dimensional format, such as the recent hits “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Scooby-Doo,” and “Underdog.”

EDIT: An update for the release of the film...The Good News:

As was expected, Sony Pictures has moved the CG-animated The Smurfs away from a December 17, 2010 release, where it would have faced The Green Hornet, Tron Legacy and Yogi Bear.

Only thing that was good from the Smurfs is that "Papa Smurf can I like your ass?" video.

I wonder if Gargamel would be CG or they'd get like, Jason Lee to play him.

And here are what there up against....

While it hasn't even been a week since a release date for The Green Hornet was revealed, the comic book adaptation already has some big competition.

ComingSoon.net reports that Walt Disney Pictures has now also slotted Tron Legacy for December 17, 2010. This is on top of The Smurfs and Yogi Bear, which were both already on the date.

We assume the studios will be moving one or more of these films to a new date to avoid the competition. The Green Hornet and The Smurfs are both Sony releases, so probably one of those will move at least.

If he does it's kind of my fault. I will watch anything with Jason Lee.

Hey, everybody. Do you know that Peyo thought of zombies seven years before Romero did? Here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Smurfs)

Also, a Smurfs movie? Really? Didn't they just ruin Alvin & The Chipmunks for everybody?
