They look pretty sturdy from the videos I've seen but I can see the concern here. Especially when you buy the game and have a party and some idiot comes over and smashes the heck out of em....Oooh, maybe i'll play for a while before I have any parties heh

As i understand it Roland had a hand in the making of them.. and their range of Electronic kits ie the V drum series can take a beating so i would say the rock band kit would hold up well enough.

Primate, I just responded to your question about the material in your thread. But as I said, I believe it was in the Game Informer article they said the drum heads are made from a type of foam. Making them very durable.

It has been said in numerous interviews that you can really give the drums a beating and they can take it, they were built to last, and built so that you can get the full drumming experience. These drums aren't some dinky plastic toy, they are built to be played.

yeah they say the drums make it feel authentic....and if it feels authentic...people will play like they play normal drums...by beating the living **** out of them....im pretty sure they'll hold up just fine..they have to make them durable..i mean..they're drummers

People shouldn't get the wrong impression though. Even though they aren't plastic, that doesn't mean they sound like actual drumheads.
They won't beat like real drums. It won't sound like you're playing the drums, it only simulates the notes in the game.
What you'll hear from the drums is like a low thud when you hit them. This way it doesn't sound like you're bashing away on real drums so that you don't piss off your neighbors, roommates, parents or what have you.

Ok guys, I was just listening to the 1up podcast put out by 1up.com, and I will paraphrase what they said about the kit.

"There was this journalist that we saw take to the drums that had like 15 years of experience behind him. So he started playing that Nirvana song on hard...and he was banging the **** out of the drums, like a real drummer. Not some gamer being a drummer wannabe. And the thing wasn't wobbling, wasn't shaking, it just sat there taking this incredible beating he was putting out. He even stopped watching the game, and just played the drums, it was like how if you watch someone at karaoke and they know the song word-for-word, and they just sing along with it. Well this guy was just playing drums along to the music."

Sick! I think this is what everyone was hoping for when they think of what the drums will be like!

That bit from the 1up podcast sounds awesome. Things like that just wanna make me play the game even more. Seriously can't wait.

And yeah, I hope the sound of bashing the drum peripheral isn't too loud. Then again, it would give me another reason to have the stereo turned up loader :D

I'm guessing the sound of hitting the pads will be comparable to someone whacking their strum bar on their guitar. Just have to turn up your volume a little bit. It's no different than a very basic, standard electronic drum kit. Just hitting a foam or rubber pad, not much noise.

Thats awesome, I want to be able to do that once I get good at Rock Band on drums. I wish this had been filmed, I was a little upset that no one played In Bloom in any videos at E3. I think it is very safe to say the drums were built well, and built to last, I wouldn't be too worried, this game is made by musicians, they aren't messing around.
