View Full Version : Rock Band a hit with Christmas Revelers
I just came from a great Christmas party, I brought Rock Band and we had a fantastic time. Some had played Guitar Hero so there was people with experience on the guitar parts. However no one had played the drums before except for myself and I knew I pretty much sucked at them. So after a few people tried them and failed miserably. One person at the party picked up the sticks and was a total natural. He'd never played drums before but he was able to get through most of the songs really well. I think he only failed on one and that was on Ride the Lighting or Enter Sandman (I can't remember which) and then did fine the second time through. Then one of the other party goers decided he would try singing. The great thing was that he is an actual singer in a band and could really sing heh. Once we got everyone in to their roles it was just pure fun. We had people sub in and out on the guitar and bass but toward the end of the evening most people stopped playing and it was just what we decided to call the "Super Group" hehe.
We ended the night when we got our tour bus (we would have gotten farther except people wanted more variety in songs so we did the quick-play mode for a bit). I was really worried that no one would be able to play the drums but once we got that it was such a blast. I think the only downside was that we had to use the Fender guitar for the bass guitar because it has strum issues and can't handle the repeating notes very well, I'll be sending off for a replacement here soon, but I wasn't going to get the replacement in time for the party. But thankfully we had a GH Les Paul for the guitar parts so it all worked out.
Oh by the way our band name was "Christmas Slay" hehe

This is the issue I think Rock Band will dominate Guitar Hero. The group interest is much like the Wii domination in the 'next gen' war. People enjoy playing together. Activision will have to do something completely new if they expect GH IV to compete.

Yes! We just had a touring band stay over last Thursday and it was a great hit for them! And then two nights later, we have a game night...everybody else brought Scrabble, Pictionary...and of course, I had to blow away the competition and bring ROCK BAND! Of course we had to be kicked out of the main room because of the annoying noise of ROCK MUSIC
