View Full Version : Goth...where?

Ok, maybe my idea of goth is a bit dated and stuck in the 80's, but I don't recall seeing any goth music at all in the game so far. The look is definately there though. Anyway, I've managed to get my guitarist into a cool Sisters of Mercy look w/ a trenchcoat and sunglasses. Here's some groups I would like to see:
The Cure - Fascination Street, Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven, Fire In Cairo, hell...anything by them would be great
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Fireworks, Dear Prudence, Passenger
Bauhaus - Bella Lugosi's Dead, Passion of Lovers, Telegram Sam
Fields of the Nephilim - Anything by them would be cool
Peter Murphy - Cuts You Up, I'll Fall With Your Knife
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love, Lucretia, Dominion
I know most people don't like the genre, but there's a whole look/attitude dedicated to it in the game, why not add the music too?

I was really surprised so much of the clothes and such were goth without any music to go along with it. I would buy any SoM DLC that comes out.
I also wouldn't mind seeing some Mission UK, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, or Switchblade Symphony.

how about some Rozz Williams style Christian Death? Of course due to lyrical content this would never, ever make into Rock Band. :D

The Cure, Goth? Tricky one. They're more indie in my eyes.
Nevertheless, fine suggestions. Although This corrosion by the SOM is a suprising omission.

I'd love to have Halos.

If Harmonix is smart, they'll release some of Siouxie and the Banshees' stuff soon. Not only would it shore up the lack of Goth stuff you mentioned (I'm hardly a fan of the genre, but still, why deny a group of fans their genre?), it would be another female lead vocal, something else being clammoured for. Win/Win, I say.

Alot of people consider them indie, but it's very hard for me to listen to Pornography and think that it's anything but one of the most powerful goth albums ever written.
Anyway, I haven't dusted off my old CDs in a while so I couldn't remember all the good songs, but Corrosion was definately a favorite.

I tried rallying some support for a goth pack (as well as some New Wave and post-punk) in a previous thread, but it mostly fell on deaf ears. Nice to see someone else wants these types of music added into the game. :)
There isn't a single bad song in your list. However, I noticed the dubious lack of Joy Division. ;) I'd love to see Digital, Transmission, and Ice Age, but chances are the only JD song HMX would add is Love Will Tear Us Apart. Any JD is good, though.

Oh yea, definately some Joy Division. By the way, did you hear about the new movie about Ian Curtis called "Control"? If not, go check out the trailer for it here:

I can't wait to see it, but it's only been released in select theaters and won't be on DVD for a few more months. Also, if you like JD, check out The Editors if you haven't already.

I've been wanting to see Control ever since I heard about it last year. Unfortunently, I'll probably have to wait until it comes out on DVD; there aren't any independent movie theaters around here.
Also, I've heard of the Editors, but I haven't actually listened to any of their songs. I'm usually one of the biggest detractors of post-punk revival, although I'm always geared to give a new band a listen!

Yea, their music is definately influenced by bands like Joy Division, but it's original too. You can find some of their stuff on youtube as well. I recommend All Sparks or Munich. Actually the entire Back Room album was very good.
