Yes, The Beatles: Rock Band will be available on this day, but it's also the 10-year anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast! Who else'll be dusting off the original sleek, white console for another gaming session?! I'm looking forward to throwing down on some original MvC2 and Sonic Adventure!

PS. Check out my profile for the commemorative Dreamcast shirt I made for my Rock Band frontman :)

Not only the dreamcast, but the PS2 will have its 10 years soon.

Yeah... in about 14 months.

eBay is your friend. The Dreamcast (in my opinion) was WAY before it's time. Each unit came with a 56k modem (which was upgradable to broadband), SEGAnet for online gaming, 95% of the games supported 480p progressive scan (which was a higher ratio than the PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox), and the VMU (Visual Memory Unit) had its own screen and you could take little mini-games with you to play while you were away from the Dreamcast. I could go on forever, but I'll spare the details. Just read the Dreamcast memorial on 1up.com already!

I loved the Dreamcast like a younger brother

I really thought this was going to be about that movie that's like LittleBigPlanet only with an incredible amount of explosions.

Dreamcast was an awesome system that failed because it was too advanced for it's time. When it was released, we were all still playing PS1 and N64 which had so-so graphics and then you played the Dreamcast and you were like "Wow, it looks real!".

I thought it failed because the games were bad.

If I'm wrong, excuse my ignorance, I've never had a Dreamcast.

Final Fantasy, the first ever 3D Sonic Adventure game, and many more. I still bring it out to play NFL 2K, probably the best football series ever made, it beats the hell out of Madden. It makes it look like s***.

I really don't like Final Fantasy. Or virtually anything Square has put out, other than Chrono Trigger. I think I vaguely remember playing the Sonic game at a friend's house, but I remember the more recent Sonic Chronicles far more fondly. As for NFL 2K... Eh, I never liked their baseball games, but I'll have to take your word on that one.

Anyone forgetting the fact that the movie 9 will come out that same day?

Yes, the movie "9" comes out on the same day. If all of the Sega systems were as good as the Dreamcast, the world of gaming would be a better place.

I loved the Dreamcast. One of my favorite consoles ever and it died before it's time. NFL 2K, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, and so many other great games. Plus a great controller. I miss the DC.

No Sega console ever had a Final Fantasy game, you're thinking of Phantasy Star Online.

Also, NFL 2K was a million times better than any of the Madden stuff.

I played some Crazy Taxi and Powerstone the other day, The Dreamcast never got a fair chance. Piracy killed it off too fast.

I will, but it won't be dusty. I have been playing it a lot lately. Specifically, Gauntlet Legends (beat the game again), and Marvel Vs. Capcom.

9/9 is also the birthday of Kotori (http://53rg10.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/theidolmaster_otonashikotori.jpg), the receptionist for 965 in The Idolm@ster video game. :D

I still have my Dreamcast.

But ten years? Holy crap.

That said, I think I still have the release issue from EGM somewhere upstairs...

I used to play Speed Devils for hours on end. It was the game that inspired me to my first school night all-nighter. Damn, I loved that system.
