Just got a call from EB games, RockBand now pushed to "sometime" after christmas. Glad I bought one in Niagara Falls. But now I bet DLC is pushed even further away as well. Hard not to be bitter, eh?

Strange, considering there was an official response about this from Harmonix.

Thats not the first time I have heard this.

28th dec. is also the advertised date for the full bundle for futureshop. However, the game alone is for the 22th.

maybe because the bundle have been preorder and they dont have to many to sell. Thats why they saying another day.

Meh... just cause a site says it'll be 20th, at this point, I'm not going to believe it. Until i see it posted on the announcements page HERE or its sitting in front of my TV in 3 days, I'm going to continue believing it's been delayed. Too much evidence seems to suggest that it will be, and no one here ever officially says otherwise, so I'm really not getting my hopes up.

I called my EB games here in Kitchener, ON, on Sunday afternoon and they confirmed that it would be available Thrusday and that I am second in line on the preorders.
I can only surmise that the online shipping dates for Futureshop and Best Buy are set at the 28th because they want to please customers who walk-in to their brick and mortars more than those who sit at home and try to e-order it. It is the same for both because they are of course corporate brothers. Heck, check Xbox.ca even they are listing Rock Band at 12/20. I will just be glad come Thursday morning when at 10:15am I will be unpacking RockBand in my living room.

Everywhere you go the dates keep changing, consumers are confused, retailers are not sure. Here in Cali both Best Buy and Circuit City have no pre-sale or pre-order, but they have different release dates. One says the 19th for the PS2 (Best Buy) and one says the 18 (Circuit City). I will be there both days when the store open to see who actually has it. I want it so bad I might just get X-box to have it.

I can't see how a delayed release to Canada would equate to no respect for Canadians.

Another way to look at that would be they stuck us with all the questionable hardware first to see how it would hold up. At least by the time it is released in Canada they'll have been time for hardware revisions and such. You'll most likely end up with a superior product to ours.

That's probably why it's been pushed back in the first place, they'd rather get it right the 2nd first time. Why create MORE issues with faulty hardware in two countries instead of just one?

It could be a blessing in disguise really.

A previous picture of Harmonix's refrigerator showed that they stock Canada Dry. So I would have to say yes.

I think it may be a matter of export costing them a bit more to send to Canada than the US, so if things are selling spectacularly well in the US, they might as well just keep selling there as long as possible. I'm no economist or anything - I'm honestly just guessing. I think money is what the top levels of these companies look at, and if something's cheaper, or they can make some extra money some way, they'll go ahead with that.

I don't want to turn this into a rant about the patch, but using the idea(which hasn't been proven, persay) that Activision is blocking a patch that would sell their product more just because they might be able to make a little more money on top by getting some profit off of Harmonix's coding (the patch) is a pretty good example of this. Really, taking that a bit further, I don't think any consumer is getting the respect they deserve from these larger parent companies. You'd think a hamster on a wheel is what keeps these companies going rather than customer money.

On that note, I called EB today and they said there are rumors that we won't get any Rock Band in Canada until after X-mas. In that event, I'm really hoping it just means the 28th (as is listed on the Futureshop and Best buy web sites.) Getting worried.

Hello ******,

I apologize but we still don't have an official date on our end. I would suggest to keep track of this website http://info.ea.com for the official release of Rock Band.
Do keep your incident numbers just in we get the exact information that the game is already released in Canada.

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?)

A shame? Yes. A surprise? Not really.

They've already proven, despite their cookie-cutter emails that claim the contrary, that they aren't concerned with getting their product to market in Canada. Otherwise, why would we be sitting here a month after the release date, without any idea when exactly it will be available for purchase.

"Somewhere between now and January" doesn't exactly give me a lot to hope for.

At this point, a delay to February wouldn't surprise me. They could blame the delay on lack of microphone support for Canadian accents.

I give you a direct quote and a link to an official response and you're looking to somehow twist it around to find something wrong with it?

What's next? Will Harmonix need to answer why it takes YOUR stores so long to put the boxes on the shelves after the day of shipment?

What is it that you want?

Quite frankly, the only thing I'm seeing here is Harmonix giving you answers but you're still not satisfied and seek other issues with this release to Canada.

Why would an EA tech support guy know the official release date for Rock Band in Canada? hmxsean just posted today in one of the other million Canada threads that the game is shipping to Canada on Dec. 20 and beyond that the date that any given store puts it on the shelf is up to them.

Who know's at this point in all honesty. It's apparently shipping on the 20th. Who knows when it'll get here. It may be an overnight thing and stores will have it on the 21st, we'll see I guess. Paitience is the key here. It's madening, I know, but if we all just whine and complain it won't get any of us any closer to obtaining the thing.

Mind you I can preach all I want, I own a copy my local Microplay imported :P Still, I implore my fellow Canadians to please be patient.

Here's another question: What do you think you are all entitled to?

When was the last time any game has been released in the US, but delayed in Canada over a month? I'll give you a hint.

Never.

Even console launches, expected to be plagued with shortages, delays, and other issues, have always gone 100% smoother in North America than the Rock Band launch has.

When was the last time a major game publisher forgot to deal with bilingual packaging for release in Canada, especially for a highly anticipated title? Maybe they could tell us how, exactly, that happens.

Maybe they could consider providing some concrete information on how they'll handle the warranty for Canadians who imported the game from the US, once the game is released in Canada.

It would be nice if some of this information would be released through more mainstream channels, as an official press release, as well. IGN? TeamXbox? Gamespot? Instead, we have to hunt down dev postings and rely on hearsay information on sites like Shacknews and Joystiq.

That's just a few things off the top of my head.

Basically, this has been a BRUTAL release, and the release hasn't even happened yet. How should we expect anything less than the worst scenario at this point? Further delays? Order fulfillment far below what was originally expected?

Just because the devs are throwing us a couple morsels of information at us this late in the game, we're supposed to be happy? Or maybe we just gladly accept the fact that we're getting the game at all... eventually... in limited quantities?

As consumers, we have every right to let Harmonix and EA know that the game release has been handled beyond poorly in Canada, and that the damage control has been virtually non-existent.

I understand you’re trying to help keep the peace… but you have to realise, they’ve essentially given us nothing at all, and left us primarily in the dark until now. We’re entitled to the same treatment any other consumer market is entitled to if they actually value our business.

That isn't exactly a fair comparison, since game/movie/media releases are typically expected to occur weeks and months apart from region to region. Europe gets some things before North America, and vice versa.

We don't expect Japanese games to be released in North America on the same day, do we?

Between Canada and the US, however, being that they're both NTSC Region 1, and they're both in North America, tend to follow the same North American release date for games/movies/other media.

There is a pretty huge precedence there, so it is understandable (to me, at least), that breaking that precendence is going to lead to unhappy people.

Just another EB games update. My EB is telling me that they understand that their warehouse will have it on the 20th, and they hope to have some copies on Christmas eve, but due to the holiday rush that may not be possible. They are getting bundles as well as the stand alone game and if there is any way possible to rush shipping for the weekend they will. Also, they will be contacting all pre-orders in the order received and those pre orders have 48 hours to pick up their copy.

The guys I spoke to are just as eager to get the full bundle as I am, as they also have it pre ordered (lol, I am ahead of 3 of them though, #2 at my EB) so they have been following the situation closely. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting that the bundles arrive in time for Christmas!

I realize that this is EB Games' policy, but they should make an exception to the 48 hour rule at Christmas time when there will be many people out of town for more than 48 hours at a time.

Personally, I benefit from this rule as it stands since I think I am too far down the list to get an initial copy, but I still think an exception to the rule needs to be made. There are going to be some people pissed off this Christmas with EB Games when they find out after they get back into town that they missed their 48 hour window.

...the Rock Band(TM) Special Edition Bundle for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system will ship to U.S. retail stores on Tuesday, December 18, 2007.

Rock Band is also available on Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3 system in North America. Rock Band will ship to retail stores in Canada on December 20th for the Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Rock Band will ship in Europe for the Xbox 360, the PLAYSTATION 3 system and the PlayStation 2 system in the first quarter of 2008.

On the other hand... the bundles are HUGE, and a lot of EBGames (here anyways), have very little storage room. When GH3 came out, they were DESPERATE to get all the pre-orders picked up, because they didn't have room to turn around in the store.

With all due respects Apples, Canada is on the same freakin continent as the US and Europe is all the way the boonies over there and the release for Rock Band was initially suppose to come out on the 20th in North America. So we are not in the same boat as Europeans. We are in our own car, because we do not need a boat because WE ARE RIGHT BESIDE THE US!!! WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO SHIP A GAME TO A PLACE THAT IS RIGHT BESIDE THEM. Sorry but they ship the game places farther in the US than it would be in Canada. So clearly location is not an issue here instead it's stupid excuses like bilingual instruction booklets? wtf! Sorry but it does not take a month to translate on how to play a plastic guitar, drums or sing. I feel compelled to say, on behalf of myself, and probably other Canadians on this board, that our frustrations over the Canadian release situations is largely due to the fact that we love the game you guys (Harmonix) have created and want to buy it and we feel like we are being left in the dark about being able to do so.

I simply have never wanted a video game product this badly... have never wanted to buy every scrap of DLC for a game before Rock Band came along.

I hope Harmonix knows that all this angst from Canada is just a product of our desire to buy and play and enjoy the hell out the game they have made.

That is exactly why I authored what I thought was a calm, rational, post explaining why Canadians are reacting the way they are - to possilbly limit the damage posts like the one above may inflict on the image of canadians.

I know what you are saying, but if they changed their rules all the time, then no one would know what the deal was every time a game came out. Next thing you know people will be complaining because they were away May 24 weekend and missed a big game release, and EB SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT AND NOW I AM A PISSED OFF CUSTOMER.

Well, the reality is that stores set their policies, and make people aware of them, and the problems arise when they start changing them because someone raises their voice. I am making arrangements to make sure my bundle gets picked up as soon as I get the call, and anyone else that pre-ordered and thinks they will be away during that time should do the same thing if they want it. And if not, tough luck and wait for the next shipment.

I would be far more upset to find out that I didn't get my bundle if they phoned me, and I had someone at the store within a few hours, only to find out that they sold it to some loudmouth who start spewing off in the store about "customer rights"

You have to talk to someone at the EB you pre ordered from (if that is where you pre ordered) and ask them what position you are in line. They will be able to look it up in the system and tell you. If you call though, be patient with them, every time I have set foot in my local EB the last few weeks there has been a long line up.

Fair enough, I kind of see what you're saying, but I'm not clear about your 'customer rights' argument.

Are you talking about a customer who didn't pre-order and just walked into the store and saw Rock Band in inventory? If so, the bundles should be kept in the back to avoid this issue and only brought out when a pre-order is picked up.

If you're talking of others in the pre-order queue, they shouldn't be called until all the previous pre-orders are filled or expired (after whatever # of days) and there is inventory in to fill their order. I think this number can be changed without anyone knowing. Even if you tell people where they sit in the queue, you don't have to be tell them the truth about how many you get in (even though you should, I wouldn't be surprised if this has happened before). That way, if you don't get a call, you just think that the shipment wasn't large enough to fill your order. Because of all of the confusion with the release and the busyness of the holidays, they could extend the pickup window to December 31st and no one would know the difference as long as you don't call more people than there are bundles.

However, with that said, this seems like a hassle and probably shouldn't be done. I just feel sorry for those who don't have any other option, especially when they planned to pick it up nearly a week before Christmas and it was changed at the last minute (if it is later than the originally quoted date of the 20th).

I don't know, it's so unfortunate that all of these release issues had to happen to Harmonix. I have always loved their products and have never had any issues with them. When you compare that to Activision/Red Octane with the whole patch issue and the downloadable content issue from 360 GHII, and even locking 3rd party controllers with PS2 GHII, I would have loved to see Rock Band wipe Guitar Hero completely off the map. I hope that Harmonix can sort out all of these issues before the GH franchise can catch up in terms of their product and that their name remains as respected as it was before the release of Rock Band.

Yes, if fact I am talking about someone who comes in, hasn't pre-ordered, and then demands the product be sold to them. As I am sure you are aware, most EB locations are limited in size and can't always put everything in the back, as much as I am sure they would like to. I have witnessed some pretty crass and horrible behavior by some people who "have worked in retail for years" and "know how customers should be treated". They ride roughshod over the poor clerks who have no control over the rules of the business and are just trying to do their jobs. Yes I am sure there are ways around the rules, but that argument aside. I know I would have loved to have seen this whole thing handled better, but as we all know, HMX is trying to achieve something never done before here and everything I have seen and all the experiences I have had with the stand alone version of the game tell me it is going to be worth the wait.

Rock Band is tops in my books. Hands down some of the most enjoyable gameplay experience I have ever had, and it will only get better when the drums arrive.

Fingers crossed that the shipping goes well and we can get our hands on some bundles by Christmas eve.

I did in fact buy a stand alone copy on EBay, for a reasonable price. But I will not be gouged just to have the game early.

Aside from that, there was also the issue of warranty coverage and DLC (although there are workarounds for DLC as most of us know).

Factor in the overpriced bundles, excessive shipping charges, brokerage fees, etc. Your bundle would set you back close to $400.

As much as I want to play the drums in this game, I can wait. Yes I am eager to have it, yes I know it is going to be a lot of fun, but am I willing to part with an excessive amount of my hard earned money for it, just to get it a few weeks early? No. Am I complaining about the delay? It bothered me that it occurred, but my biggest concern overall, was just having some concrete information about it, and not just rumors and third party reporting.

To those that bought it on Ebay, all the power to them and I hope their peripherals are all still in working order. For me, my stand alone copy is more than enough to tide me over and will make a nice dent in the price of my new bundle from EB when I trade it in.

With respect, the idea that Canadians are being "singled out" or "hated on" is just preposterous.

A vast number of territories, including the entire continent of Europe, are in the exact same boat, and they aren't tearing up this board with a new thread about it every twenty seconds.

Ok Apples ,don't throw the European thing at us simply because they are on the other side of the Atlantic.

But Canadians should realize that there have been a Vast amount of peripherals FAILING.This would be the biggest reason for any further delays in Canada.Replacement guitars and drum periphs had to come from some where and I am sure many came from what would have been Canadian bundles.
We will get our RB bundles, and hopefully there have been improvements to the periphs.Nobodies out to get Canada, we are not getting SCREWED.If anything we will get the periphs that work the first time around unlike the U.S.A.........In my opinion the Americans got screwed not us.

Buying it on ebay just cost me 280$ and I see all the DLC on PSN Network. People keep complaining that the guitar break after 30 sec or a day. Mine still work like a charm. I mean.. cmon.. some people must smash their instruments.

Yeah...I would definitely advise Canadians against buying bundles from the US. I had heard about EA not accepting returns from Canadians on defective peripherals/game discs, but it wasn't until my friend opened up his Rock Band box today only to find that his sealed game case was missing the game. So...basically he dropped 200$ on it for nothing since its unplayable, and still no word on whether or not he'll be able to even return it when its released in Canada...so yeah I wouldn't recommend buying RB from the US, especially if its going to be out so soon.

$280 to buy it, but how did it get to you? Shipping isn't free and usually isn't included in the price, especially with something like a bundle as big as Rock Band. Also ANYTHING that pricey has to have duty paid at the border, and UPS/Fed Ex etc charge brokerage fees to do that. For something in the value range of Rock Band, that is usually around the $80 mark. So delude yourself all you want that you paid $280, but in fact with shipping and brokerage, the final price still ends up being over $400.

That choice was yours to make, all the power to you, but when it comes to discussing the details of when others hope to see the bundles in Canadian stores, respect their choices too, not everyone wanted to spend over $400 to get a bundle to their house early, and not everyone could afford to either.

yea i payed 200 + 56.50 for shipping off ebay so came to 256.50, shipped as a gift so no duty or extra fees etc. I knew the chances of instruments breaking would happen but i have gh2/3 guitars, i knew the mic would be fine so even if the drums broke (which they didn't) id still have an almost fully functional game.

Now 3 weeks later everything still works and if it breaks I don't care as I've gotten my extra time out of the game and release is close so repairs should be available soon.

I even sold my eb games pre order to a guy for $25 profit so really its like i just payed retail + shipping.

Im happy, but I still like coming on here and arguing agains't ignorant american comments.

I just wanna know how short the supply will be if and when it does actually get released here. I have a pre order at EB Games that i made in August or something, with full intentions and excitement over getting the game. Since the BS delays etc... I have absolutely no desire to get it. However if they are gonna be short supplied damn right ill get it and sell it locally or eBay the thing for a profit.

I figured the delay was pretty obvious though hasnt been talked about much in this thread. When RB was released our dollar was too damn good, they are probably just waiting for it to drop so they dont feel as bad gouging the price up to $200+.

Upon receiving this call, we had just under 30 preorders for 380 and just under 10 for the ps3, we got this call about two weeks ago, yesterday on call with the DM, we found out we will be getting 5 for the 360, and one for the playstation 3. And customer preorders come first, as always, so even though I was the first person in my stores computer to pre-order rock band, I'm going on optimism and saying late January I might have my bundle in my house.

I don't understand how shipment numbers can be so low. Wasn't the original reason for the delay the French packaging? If that was the case, and they didn't re-route the Canadian equipment to the US, wouldn't they have been able to make a whole pile of English/French boxes to put all of the original Canadian bundles in plus the additional ones they made during the extra month they had to release the game in Canada? Maybe the boxes are the most difficult things to make, rather than the equipment.

I just don't understand how the demand in Canada (a country with one-tenth of the population of the US) can't be met, especially with an extra month to increase production numbers.

That answers the question about the validity of the "French packaging" excuse. For shame. All it did is make English Canada resent French Canada and Official Language laws.

Maybe they had to make french guitars too with instructions of where to put the batteries.

Blockbuster still says they don't know for sure and don't have any specifics so still aren't taking preorders but the computer says the 20th.

I called my EB today and they said that it was delayed again until the 24th, but they couldn't make any guarantees that they will have received copies by then.

For those of you who are complaining about the 48hr rule, I was told that as long as they know that you will pick the game up, they will hold it for 4 or (sometimes) more days. If they don't hear from you in the first 48 hours, then they sell if. But if you ask them to hold it for you beyond that, then they likely will. Of course, this might not be reflective of every Canadian EB, especially taking into consideration the size of the Rock Band box, but that's what my local EB told me this morning.

lol if anyone seriously thought the french package was actually ever the issue they need a reality check. That was maybe a valid reason the first time a product was ever released in Canada, or when that law was first passed. With a company the size of EA and the number of products they have released to Canada, this is not an issue at all.

Plus its hardly a supply issue. They are sitting at stores all across the states untouched, and by the sounds of it they are pretty fast on their returns of all their faulty hardware so they have plenty of stock.

Its all money, they are too embarrassed to release it too soon with our dollar so strong, will make their over pricing just look silly.

But the guy seem not informed.... Like he told me that the game was 300$ I hope it was just a mistake.

they wanna be able to charge $199 canadian so they'll wait until our dollar is 95 cents american so they can say the price is due to our lower dollar.

Just to clarify for those saying EB is saying the 24th, the main reason for that is that they are not getting it into their warehouse until the 20th, so by the time they ship it to the stores, that is another few days. Anyone who expects EB to have it in store on the 20th is mistaken. As long as the shipping is reliable, and you are high on the preorder list, the 24th is the day, for the rest of you, good luck, hopefully there will be rapid follow up shipments.

Figured this would be the best thread to post my disappointment AGAIN.
Don't get me wrong I love Harmonix and the first 2 Guitar Heroes, and thus is the reason why I'm so hyped for Rock Band. I've patiently waited after hearing of the first delay, till now.

So I read in a thread, not sure which one where someone quoted HMXsean saying they were shipping out on the 17th or 18th and the stores would release it as soon as they got it. So hearing this I phoned my EB games today, where I pre-ordered from. I get the response "Were still hoping for Dec 20th, but right now we know absolutely nothing about what is going on with Rockband". I proceeded to call 2 other EB games all with the same Answer. I live in Vancouver by the way.

I'm getting pissed off that not one person seems to know anything about this game. If HMXsean has stated they are shipping on the 17th or 18th or w/e how come no Canadian retailer seems to know of this??? I'm Tired of getting the same bullcrap told to me. The stores say they haven't been told anything, and Harmonix is saying it will be shipping on the 18th.

As much As I love Harmonix's games. I think they need to take a page or two out of Activisions "Release a Game smoothly in Canada" book

I got "Were hoping for the 20th and well call you if we do get it but, aside from that we have no idea when it will be shipped"

So went to my local bb Hmv and Ebgames to get some info for ypu guys and lowand behold hmv was still very tight lipped and BB were dumbfounded asking whats rockband... he saw my displeasure and got the electronics manager and he said it appears the warehouse is kinda stockpilling their stock (this goes for FS aswell) so that they can provide their customers with greater stock on the 28th , i bought sounds resonable enough , and as for eb this was the most ammusing ofcourse the store was packed however there were a bunch of small boxes (game only editions in all likely hood with accessories) were strewn about the store near the cash aswell as 8 BIG brown boxes sotred abovethe back gaming cabinet were gaming consoles usually live cleverly covered up with posters luckily the delivery men were'nt carful and the rockband box could be made out. so thats a brampton location which also has an eb warhouse in the east end of the city s its a good chance eb will be able tofill atleast 5 of their preorders tommorw

I spoke with a guy from Best Buy last night (Ottawa) and he told me that they were holding back stock until the 28th "to keep stampedes from happening" (which I found amusing). I then trudged over (is the snow ever gonna stop this season? Sheesh) to EBGames. I asked the guy what his stock date looked like and he told me a couple of things. 1) They have three times as many pre-orders taken as they are getting copies of the game and 2) The game ships from their warehouse today. His words: "If Purolator is on the ball, we'll have it here on Saturday, but I am expecting it on the 24th to be completely honest." I also stopped into Wal-Mart this morning at 6:45am and they didn't have it on the floor. My wife also checked Wally World again at 9:30am and they said they usually get their shipments around 11am.

Best bet? I'd say if you don't have a pre-order (or even if you do), Wal-Mart or other shopping malls (Zellers, Sears, etc) might pan out. Or wait until the 28th and hit Best Buy or Future Shop.

Okay here's where it's at for the northern suburbs of Montreal:

EB Games has either received the disk version, been told it comes out on the 24th, not been told anything, been told it might come out on the 28th, or been told it comes out in January.

Future Shops and Best Buys all say Dec 28th except a few of them got one copy of the Special Edition each, which sold in a few miliseconds.

Microplays all say it was supposed to come out yesterday, but a few of them got the disk version.

Toys R Us, Wal Marts, Zellers, and Sears all have no idea when they get it.

Surely someone's going to get fired for this? French translation was supposed to be why we got it late, and the main french talking city in the country gets nothing? Heh.

I got home from work just in time to get a call from EB Games... There weren't enough copies to fill the pre-orders and I didn't get mine yet... I knew that would happen since I only pre-ordered Nov 13th BUT the guy at the store told me they only filled 8 pre-orders... holy hell, that's ******ed

CBC has an article on how scarce rock band will be. For those stores that think they are getting 50 bundles, they may have to think again...

It seems like most Future Shops got the game only today. Doesn't do me any good though. Damn you Sony! and even if it wasn't for their DLC price hike it wouldn't matter because of Activision.

Good news guys. I work at Best Buy in gaming and I checked our inventory and we have all of these in transit:

- 20 game only copies for Xbox 360
- 12 Xbox 360 special edition
- 6 PS3 special edition

They're all in transit and are supposed to arrive by the 24th. The good thing is that it'll be here for Christmas for some of us, but there's just not that many

right after all my experiences with BB something tells me not to believe that.. as well Futureshop in MOST Ontario locations does better business then BB and something as demanded as this item gets allocated to the store with the best sales history , i also know that futureshop in BRAMPTON have gotten stock in but are holding it till the 28th to
A. boost their stock to offer more to their customers on their launch day and

B. To move it out of the hell week that is the week before Christmas and into thier boxing week sales

Only problem is that bundle is of extreme bad quality:(

Does anyone know what the warranty situation for Canada is?

You can believe whatever you want, EA shipped it already, it's heading to the store. You do realize that BB is the parent company of FS and that they get the biggest shipments for hot items such as this. Our store alone got 104 Wiis last week, while the FS across the street got around 30.

You can go on the EA website and fill out a form for defective instruments. I hope EA didn't ship the first batch of instruments to Canada.

i don't even know what to say here. i stopped in at the eb in london where i have my preorder and was told that they were expecting a shipment of just games today (the 20th) and bundles on saturday. this is complete bull i mean we are getting jerked around like crazy. i have had my preorder for what feels like eons and have been going nuts since i walked into eb on november 20th and was told that we weren't getting rock band for another month. (i guess i missed the news of the canadian delay on the rock band website). the worse part is there is no way to punish harmonix for this gross injustice apart from refusing to buy the game (and let's face it we aren't going to do that). and now i read that people who have gotten the game in canada got **** instruments that don't even work. it has become apparent that harmonix or ea or whoever the hell is responsible for this bull truely doesn't give a **** about their fans in canada and in turn probably any of their fans. for crying out loud if you are having troubles making enough stock for the demand, or your hardware is so ****ty that you have to recall it all just do us as your fans justice and tell us the god damn truth because i am going to lose my mind if the release date just keeps getting moved further and further away from me.
sorry for the language but i have been at university all fall and am extremely burnt out and had a wicked rock band party planned for me and my buddies but now we are going to have to get drunk and do karaoke or some bull

There probably won't be another shipment for a long time, so you should either hold on to it for a few days until they allow Canadians to finally exchange the instruments or just get a refund and try and buy it somewhere else.

Anyone else here from PEI? Is the bundle available anywhere? Called EB in Charlottetown. They don't have a definite date yet. Hopefully before Xmas....cheers....
Hey man, I have it pre-ordered at the Charlottetown EB. I called on Tuesday to see what the story was, and the clerk told me that they were hoping for the 24th, but that they couldn't make any promises. Did you pre-order? If so, what spot are you in line?

Yeah I talked to my EB today in St. Albert, AB (10min north of edmonton) and I was told that the latest I would see my copy is on christmas eve possibly earlier. I'm not holding my breath though.
He said they were getting 15 copies but I didn't confirm if that was for both systems or not, either way not every preorder will be filled. I'm number 1 on the list for the PS3 version and I preordered back on Sept.10 so I'll just wait until they get bundles in.

If I get defective instruments man of man I'm going to be mad. I thought after waiting a month we wouldn't have to deal with this crap.
I'm in the Christmas mood though so I'm not going to get worked up. Yeah it's the worst Canadian release, not it's not a conspiracy, yes it would make my christmas to have this game before christmas eve so I could rock out with my relatives *wink wink nudge nudge EB*.

And I'll post when I get my copy.

Geeeeez .............from all the B.S. from the retailers with dates from the 20th to the 28th to some time in Jan, I simply gave up trying to get RB in Canada.
I ended up getting a friend in Texas to pick one up for me and ship it,it wont be here untill Xmas eve.Now I feel a bit Ripped off ,not from HMX but from the wishy washy B.S. from the retailers.
I'll end up spending about $170 more then my Canadian bro ,having it shipped from good old Texas.

But atleast I'll have it for XMAS for my kids.It would just be nice to get some good info for us Canadians for a change.

Harmonix unfortunately gets the trickle effect because it is their game and they joined up with EA to make sure distribution would be top notch... but right now loading it on a Donkey Kart and pilgrimaging from town to town seemed like a more solid plan. I really hope HMX is on the phone demanding whats going on and what can be done to solve this situation. But the general feeling is that the US market is fed and everything else... well it can get done when it gets done.

I mean, I guess they [EA/MTV Games] didn't expect much demand with the total lack of advertising for the game... Is it going to be the same case for Europe? No definite idea when stuff is going to ship, dates changed on the day they're supposed to arrive, confusion in the marketplace?

I crossed the border for Rock Band at launch. Our dollar was higher than your at the time, so I spent a little less than regular price. Crossing the border back into Canada cost only 18 dollars, plus we had van-load full of Christmas shopping and groceries. Your $80 assessment is just a little off.

As for replacing peripherals, I actually contacted Rock Band support about this, and there's a couple options available for Canadians who have purchased their game in the States. One, contact family or a friend in the States, and use that as the exchange address. Perfectly acceptable, I was told. Rock Band's UPS account will only ship within the States. Second option: Wait until the Canadian release, and Harmonix Canada will happily honour any exchanges.

Pretty simple. No delusions, just facts.

For those of us living in Newfoundland:

I was talking to a woman from EB Games in the Avalon Mall. She told me there is ABSOLUTELY no way that Rock Band will be here before Christmas because the shipment is coming by ground. As some of you may know, Newfoundland is an island, therefore a ground shipment is going to take extra long since the shipment has to take a ferry ride to get here. She said the earliest was by the 28th. As for Wal-mart, FS, etc. Not sure if there getting their shipments by ground however I was at the Wal-mart in Mount Pearl last night and there was no sign of just the game. (no spot on the shelf or whatnot) so I don't think they've seen anything there yet.

When will this be? My buddy got this bundle early too and has had problems, he needs a new guitar...but still as of the 21st of December, that pink EA warranty sheet directs you to the same dead end (if you are not in the US). So, idk, I guess he should just keep waiting or go through Harmonix Canada?
