View Full Version : Support Thread for Instrument-less Beatles DLC

This thread is meant to support the release of DLC of Beatles songs that might not feature all of the standard 4 instruments: Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals. While the on-disc setlist stuck to songs that featured the entire band, some Beatles songs are so timeless and classic that they must be featured as DLC regardless of whether they might not have all the instrumental parts.
HMX has previously released Instrumental DLC, but (correct me if I'm wrong) DLC that is missing say drums, bass, or guitar is far less common, at least for RB2. The Beatles are different though, because so much of their music is based around the Vocals. It would be a crime to not release a song like Yesterday because there are no drums.
Fortunately, with Abbey Road, Sgt Peppers, and Rubber Soul coming, we will most definitely be getting these types of songs: Norwegian Wood, She's Leaving Home, Because, etc. But these are all part of albums: they must be included to fill the album. If they do start releasing singles, I hope they won't avoid these types of songs.
I can compile a list of these types of songs, that are missing drums, bass, or guitar, but would be amazing on Vocals and thus need to be in the game. Let me know if you have any others!
Blackbird (no Bass or Drums)
Yesterday (no Bass or Drums)
Eleanor Rigby (no Guitar, Bass, or Drums)
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (no Drums)
I've Just Seen a Face (no Bass)
For No One (no Guitar)

Well, I want their whole discography eventually...so yeah. Hell, I'd pay for Revolution 9 DLC, even if it weren't a playable track. Of course, a dreamscape for that song would be worth the 160 points alone.

I'm pretty sure they plan on releasing the full discography, so... yeah.

The only one I don't agree with is Eleanor Rigby. It should be playable on at least one instrument.
Maybe it's just because I don't consider Eleanor Rigby that much of a classic track.

They could at least throw Eleanor Rigby on guitar and bass. Just throw some of the string instuments on guitar and the basic rhythm of the song on bass.

I doubt they'll neglect "Eleanor Rigby" as DLC. And, as already pointed out, the only Rock Band element that it's essentially missing is drums -- pieces of the string quartet could easily be mapped to guitar and bass (see: the "guitar" track "I Am the Walrus")
And for the record, we already have some instrument-less DLC on the way:
"She's Leaving Home" (no drums; technically no guitar or bass though harp and strings can be mapped to guitar/bass tracks)
"Because" (no drums)
"Her Majesty" (no drums, no bass)

I'm really hoping for I've Just Seen A Face and there's no bass and very little drumming on that. I'm with you!

Correction....
"Her Majesty" (no drums, no bass... after the first note which has everything ;) )

Ah, yea Long and Winding actually has a fair amount of drums, but not sure about guitar or bass.
I've Just Seen a Face would be awesome!
The thing is, the main point of this thread, is that Beatles songs are SO damn fun to sing, that I could just make Beatles RB a karaoke game essentially. While I play all instruments, I also sing solo a lot, so just having these songs to sing are a must!

I will buy any and all Beatles DLC that they will release. I'd love to get the full discography!
And with songs like Gorillaz's "Clint Eastwood" available for RB DLC, where they chart the piano and melodica, as well as the numerous songs that have synth, I would hope they'd chart violins or cello, even if the in game fab four are not shown playing any instruments.

Oh, It would be playable, alright. Harmonix has charted some weird stuff to guitar and drums.

I don't really see how the drums on I've Just Seen a Face are limited. It has a fast shuffle pattern played with brushes on the snare. As for the bass, they could leave it off, or they could chart one of the three acoustic guitars that's playing bass notes.... I dunno.

If they wanted they could chart the tapping in Blackbird to the bass pedal on drums.

If they did a Love track on disc, I don't see why they couldn't do a live one unless the audio was unusable to transfer.
BTW, here it is on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv_oI4F7ITM
