the Guitar Hero 2 Xplorer works for sure, because i use one for bass.
and i'm pretty sure that the Guitar Hero 3 controller works too.

He means a standard controller, as in, not a guitar one. You can use them in the GH games by using the triggers and shoulder buttons for frets. As far as I know, you can't do it in Rock Band.

As of this time, you cannot use the controller to replace a guitar. The controller is only recognized as a 'microphone'.

This is the icing on the cake, if HMX sell a stand alone game, with no guitars coming out till next year, why wouldn't they make a standard pad controller work?

I know it's not the way it was intended to be played, but come on, at least we would have had an option.
