opinion involving les paul patch and a copy of gh3

okay so on tuesday i got rockband, i actually had no clue i was getting it, my friend who was in town from the military just bought it for me on a whim (he knew i wanted it and he wanted to play it.) stoked, totally. well the next day we have to go to the goodwill computer store for a router, and next door they have the ps3 version of gh3 for auction. i was not expecting to get rock band, and am short on cash for things like copies of gh3 so i hadn't read any of the threads about the patch being blocked, but i had heard on g4 that the patch existed (and apparently that was all i heard). So i bid on this guitar, not much $46, and i won (the auction was yesterday, they just called me like 20 minutes ago). So now i am wondering should i

hold out for the patch (if it will even be released)

sell it on craigs list (make a small profit by selling it for like $30 more than i am getting it for)

return it to a store without a reciept (harder to do)

or get credit from gamestop towards Gta 4 ( i think i just break even with this option). It is worth twice what i am about to pay for it, with tax, so if i took it to the store i would be making money. karma wise i might feel better about myself flipping it on craigs list. i was going to lend it to my friend, but he said that he would rather just wait for guitar hero(this should read wait for rock band, i typed the wrong thing) . it's NIB.

any suggestions?

the patch outta happen idk why activision is getting all pissy dont they understand that if we already have the guitar we obviously have already bought gh3 and helped them out...

u kno what im saying? we got the guitar.. we already bought there game so theres nothing to be sad about activision!!!! ur just mad cuz u kno all ur employees over at activision are playing rock band

it's the bundle but i won i early (under pretty much the exact same circumstance) got it for the wii... so i don't need both. i just wanted the guitar to play with RB, and if that's not happening i might as well dump it. target has a no "no reciept" return policy for that large of an item. CL i guess it will be if i don't keep it.

The last official word from Harmonix is that the patch isn't going to be released because of Activision's continued objection.

I would assume it will be months now until Activision realise the error of their ways (ie; Rock Band all the rage, GH3 sales dried up), at which point they will likely end up reentering discussions with Harmonix to have the compatibility added after all.
