Are you kidding me? Harmonix has been releasing more DLC for this game than I have ever seen. New songs every week. Give me a break. GH2 and GH3 combined might not even have the amount of DLC that Rock Band already has. Soon they will be releasing whole freaking albums. Stop complaining about the best DLC ever.

i'm sure they will be announcing the next wave of DLC shortly after, so just stay patient.. everybodys excited to see what they've got up their sleeve but theres already so many tracks available for DLC, plus the great songs already included in the game

Im not complaining.. you are, but the song packs are pretty ***. Like I said anything new coming out besides the BS thats allready on there. I appreciate your comment but some real info would help. I allready bought Metallica and Black Sabbath the rest is *** if you downloaded the rest of the song packs.

This game is allready starting to get boring playing the same songs over and over. So you claimed theres going to be whole album downloads ? when is this exactly ? Which bands exactly ? I hoope they are good because come on David Bowie .. please thats seriously *** and I hate punk rock.. Let me rephrase the question is there going to be any hardcore/mainstream/metal or classic rock coming to th dlc soon ?

Plus Guitar hero 2 has a total of like 6 song packs and guitar hero 3 has 3 so Im not sure if its more or less but its alot.

I am one of the many who are very eager to see the new list of DLC from Rockband. I am very excited for the upcoming Radiohead, but where are the full albums we were promised? Will I be jamming out to more classics by The Who and Nirvana anytime soon? And how much will full album downloads cost? Aside from being anxious, I'd love to see OK Computer or The Bends as full albums on Rockband.

I agree theres great songs allready with the game but the song packs are far from great exception to Metallica and Black Sabbath.

Geez. How about some patience? Don't you think 3 songs a week is enough? They are handling DLC the same way they are as the game. A variety of music.

And full album downloads since I'm sure you are far too impatient to look it up, will be released in 2008. One of which will probably be in January.

The Who "Who's Next"
Nirvana "Nevermind"
An unspecified Metallica album.

I think you'll continue to be disapointed with the DLC, because I highly doubt HMX will add any good metal any time soon. I'm surprised they've included Metallica so heavily but I'm sure that's where the metal ends. I'd love some Testament and Lamb Of God... Dimmu Borgir and Dark Tranquillity would be awesome. But personally, I'm fairly satisfied with the DLC so far. I've downloaded at least one song per week. And I'm looking forward to the Pretenders (they rock, what are you looking at me like that for!?!) and Weezer songs.

Listen to Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Do yourself a favor and listen to something good.

you've got to be kidding........

no, EMan, i'm not, the Bowie pack has gotten more play form me than all the others i've downloaded, even the punk pack which has my 3rd favorite band, and Black Sabbath is one of my favoriter bands, but the Bowie pack is simply amazing. Moonage Daydream, Queen *****, and Heroes are... awesome

Holy crap. Why do people always have to slam music that other people like? I actually downloaded exactly the opposite of what you downloaded - I really don't like Metallica or Black Sabbath, but I'm not going to say they are ***. Instead, I say "I don't like those bands, or the kind of music they play." See how easy that was? Obviously lots of people like them, because they are popular, but that doesn't mean they are inherently, absolutely superior to other bands.

With the GH series I was always disappointed with how much metal and hard rock there was, but I understood why it was there. I'm much happier with RB because now that drums and vocals are in they can support a bigger variety of music. I think they are doing a fantastic job of hitting the spectrum.

And your complaint about the game having no more downloads available than the GH series is ludicrous. RB has been available for less than a month, whereas GH2 has been out for over a year. In another month's time RB will have outstipped the entire GH series in downloadable content, and I expect that lead to continue to widen at a rapid rate. So don't worry - I have no doubt that the next wave of DL content will include some hardcore, metal, and/or classic rock.

Dude, Who's Next? is coming out, and theres going to be a plethora of Grateful Dead tracks too, so it doesn't get much more classic rock than that. It would be fiscally irresponsible for hmx to release only a certain genre of songs for DLC, because its a damn true fact that not everybody likes it... Emo sucks though. there should never be any of that, ever.

If that's not complaining, what is?

You say that only "hardcore/mainstream/metal or classic rock" is worthwhile.

My response is:
1) I'm sure that Harmonox is only concerned about making YOU happy and ONLY including the music YOU like. Harmonix would never want to include the entire spectrum of music.

2) There are other songs already released as DLC that fit into your hardcore/mainstream/metal or classic rock" category. Let's count them:

CCR is classic rock.(1)

The Queens of the Stone Age are mainstream and/or hardcore. (4)
Bang A Gong and My Sharona are mainstream. (6)
Wolfmother is hard rock. (7)
Foreigner is considered hard rock (8)

Even though you dislike David Bowie, he is mainstream.

And even though you do not like Punk music, The Clash and The Ramones are mainstream bands.

Even if we discount the songs you dislike and the Metallica, The Police, and Black Sabbath packs, there are still 8 "hardcore/mainstream/metal or classic rock" DLC songs that have been released in less than one month.

Obviously there are many songs that fit your description of appropriate songs, but that does not matter to you; you really just wanted to complain.

Oh don't you think you're so high and mighty. By the way, if you're bored already, I assume you've 5* every song on every instrument on Expert. If not, you're really just looking for easier songs that you can actually do well on.

Foreigner is considered hard rock (8)

LOL. Foreigner isn't what i'd consider hard rock. Maybe 80's Cheese pop rock.

but...

CCR is Classic/Southern rock.
T-Rex is Classic/Glam rock.
The Clash are Classic Rock/Punk/Mainstream
The Knack are Pop/Classic Rock
Wolfmother is hard rock
David Bowie is Classic/Glam Rock.
QOTSA are Hard Rock
Ramones are Classic Rock/Punk/Mainstream.

so.... yeah. This dude's just whining, and misunderstanding the meaning of the word ***, because I guess if David Bowie's '***' then, I guess '***' means, "musical god, artistic genius, and Legend"

Notice that I said Foreigner "is considered hard rock." I was not sure what classification they fell under (discounting big hair band) but I saw that many fan sites (including 4eigner.net) classified them as a hard rock band.

I figured if Foreigner fans (I'm not one) considered them to be hard rock, I would cut them some slack.

And what exactly is that supposed to mean? Thats just as bad as half of the other **** that gets posted in here about people. I'm a metal fan. And yes, I like Bowie, I am open to other peoples musical tastes, I have many other genre's of music in my collection, but at heart I am a metal fan.

Way to stereotype people. Your post is as offensive as the use of the word '****' previously. Maybe its you who isn't open to other musical influences.

Your post is as offensive as the use of the word '****' previously. Maybe its you who isn't open to other musical influences.

If you really think that his post is as offensive as using the word **** in a derogative fashion, then you're badly in need of a perspective check: unless, that is, there's a law against Slayer fans legally marrying each other that I'm unaware of.

And are you really going to pretend there isn't a very loud, very obnoxious, and very large group of metal heads that sounds like our boy Fully? It's not exactly a baseless stereotype: for every four metal fans open to other music, you can be sure there's a fifth who thinks any album that doesn't include a Finnish musician, an umlaut in the title, a cover featuring demons, darkness, blood and/or death, and five or more guitar solos encompassing 32 notes or more per second is suspect at best. Unless, that is, it's Metallica, in which case everything before the black album gets a pass, because Dave Mustaine was there and Cliff Burton died on tour man, and that's totally f-in metal.

Coupe
12-16-2007, 09:40 PM
So you're talking about 1 in 5 metal fans then. And thats enough to tar everyone with the same brush is it??!!

The reason I jumped in was because people were trying to explain that not everyone likes the same music so we shouldn't give each other **** for the music we like, and then someone starts on metal fans. I think this whole mentality towards other genre's of music is just downright petty and childish.

Personally I couldn't care less about whether you like metal music or its fans or not - but there's no need to post it up publicly. Yes its a public forum, but why people feel the need to bash people for their musical taste's (or anything that anyone discusses on forums) is beyond me. If you don't like what I like, then fine, don't listen to it - but don't give me or anyone else **** or stereotype anyone just because I or they do like it.

Rcwpong
12-17-2007, 07:05 AM
Personally I think there's a difference between a music fanbase stereotype and insulting a musical genre or artist. I happen to agree with the "metalhead" stereotype but I and most other rational people in this world know there will always be exceptions. That's not the issue.

What is the issue is many metal fans continue to feed this stereotype by slamming entire genres of music because it doesn't motivate them the way metal seems to. That's how this thread got derailed. A 'metalhead' slamming David Bowie based on personal taste. A sarcastic statement afterwards aimed at slamming metalheads in return was fairly accurate.

Instead of trying so hard to defend your fellow metal fan, I'd recommend concentrating more effort on pointing out to him and others that he's giving fellow metal fans like you a bad name.

I think this conversation has gotten entirely off topic so I am going to shut it down.

To summarize this thread:

There is no announced schedule for downloadable content past this current week. As stated in the past, there is a commitment to continuing DLC as much as possible. Please watch the annoucements forum and other official channels for further schedule information as it is released.

I urge patience. At less than a month into launch, we're already at 85 tracks (45 main setlist, 13 bonus, and 27 downloads), which is quite a feat in itself. Let's see a week or two pass without new content before we get the torches and pitchforks.
