View Full Version : Not working on Wii.

Got back from the midnight release, popped the game in, and after a required system update on the Wii, played "Twist and Shout" in Story Mode, and as soon as I got my rewards for playing the song, it locked up.

Rebooted my Wii, and started Story Mode again. Played "I Saw Her Standing There", and at the same place, same problem.

Rebooted AGAIN, and tried "Octopus's Garden" in Quickplay Mode. After completing the song, it AGAIN locked up.

If I have to reboot the Wii every time I play a song, this is going to get old REALLY fast...

Wow, I don't have that problem at all, I have finished the whole game already. Maybe you should return that copy?

PS I m on Wii too.

Did you turn it on and off again?

Did you turn it on and off again?

Uh, yeah. That's what rebooting means.

OK, here's what I've done so far.

1) Applied system update required to play game (took about 10 sec)
2) Played song in Story Mode with GHWT Guitar and RB2 mic
3) Played song in Story Mode with RB2 Guitar and RB2 mic
4) Played song in Quickplay mode with RB2 Guitar and RB2 mic
5) Went into Wii configuration and ran a system update (couple minutes)
6) Played song in Story Mode with RB2 Drums and RB2 mic
7) Played song in Quickplay with 2 mics

EVERY TIME I PLAYED IT LOCKED UP AFTER THE SONG! :(

have you tried running it without mics at all?

that seems to be the only thing you havent done.

8) Unplugged both mics, played Solo drums. Lockup.

I think I'll stick RB2 in, see if that still plays, maybe Wii update broke it.

Kaokulk

9) Played RB2 in Solo drum mode, worked fine.
10) Checked Wii for a new system update, none

It's 3:00am, I'm tired of debugging Harmonix's bugs. I'm going to bed. Night.

It could be a combination your Wii/the system software. Have you tried playing it on someone else's console? Alternatively, can you get it exchanged?

Uh, yeah. That's what rebooting means.

Sorry. Should have put quotation marks around that. I was making an IT Crowd reference.

Any mods to the Wii? Have you done the system update?

It could just be a bad disc. I'm not saying it isn't inconvenient but no company is 100% perfect. Take your copy back and get another one.

Suddenly you went from being a complete idiot to a very clever individual. Hats off to you. Being in I/T, I thought that was pretty funny...

Reading the above thread, yes, I did the required one by TBRB, and also another one through the Wii system menu. No, no mods.

I'm going to return it to GS. They still have some copies.

And I'm going to resist the urge to enter BOTH codes to get free downloads. I'll update later (but if I don't today, assume that it works). ;-)

Sounds like a bad disk for sure.... update this thread if you get a new disk and the problem persists!

New disc, same problem in the same spot. Grrrr...

Sounds like an unfortunate Wii, in that case. Try the game on a different console?

Take it back to the Gamestop, and have them test it for you there. It may be your Wii.

hey Kaokulk - I've also passed this thread along to some of my Wii-focused colleagues here. I'll pass along any insights they might have for you.

Try this first: delete your Beatles: Rock Band save data and then restart the game. If that doesn't work, delete the save data, try starting ANOTHER game and creating some save data, and then starting a new Beatles: Rock Band game.

OK, good news, but still work to figure out.

I deleted my save data, and retried TBRB - no dice.

I then deleted the save data, deleted my RB1 data (which I haven't played much), and some games I rented that I don't play. Recreated my RB1 data (even played a song in RB1), and tried TBRB again.

Success! However, I broke my rule that I should only change one thing at a time. I disabled SD saving, and disabled Online stuff (I had previously disabled Online to no avail, but I tried it again).

So was it the save data PLUS one of those other things? Don't know, but now I'm going to re-enable those features and see.

Thanks HMXVeng!

It's the SD card. I re-enabled it, and it locked up again.

It's a standard 2GB card. I don't know what the deal is.

What's on the SD card?

I'm not hooked to the internet so I don't get Wii updates does this mean I can't play the beatles rock band?

DMSTEPHENS

Whatever updates you need will be on the game disc.

Kaokulk
09-09-2009, 05:04 PM
Another 2GB card did not solve the problem. 2 different SD cards have locked it up.

Kaokulk
09-09-2009, 05:17 PM
Ugh. Now I took ALL SD cards out, and it STILL locked up!

Back to square one...

Kaokulk
09-09-2009, 05:24 PM
Yup. It's back to locking up all the time.

Kaokulk
09-10-2009, 12:42 AM
OK, now I'm annoyed. I got so annoyed, in fact, that I backed everything up to an SD card that I could, and completely reformatted the Wii System Memory (a bit drastic, I'll admit). With NO SD card in the system, and nothing in the internal memory, it STILL locks up after one song.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm game.

That's really bizarre. Okay, while I am not at work right now (it *is* 1am), when I get in in the morning I'll forward this to my co-workers and see if I can get some answers for you.

I had a problem today when playing too while playing the story mode. I played through to the Abbey Road section and once the movie had finished I was left with a black screen. None of the controls responded and I had to switch the Wii off and on again. However after starting the game again, continuing from my save and skipping the Abbey Road movie it seems to be working fine so it appears to be a glitch?

Still locking up after every play. This stinks. Gonna try to go to a friends tomorrow and if it works there.

My Wii locked up once. It's done that before, so I don't think my problem is game-oriented.

It's what I aim for.

Also... I'm sorry you're in IT. My mom thinks I should get into it but... I know better. I also am not as good with computers and such than she thinks I am.
