View Full Version : Double bass (no, I'm not asking for another pedal)

But I was curious. So far what's been announced are all songs that do not have double bass in them.

As of now, there are no plans to incorporate another pedal because the learning curve is hard enough for amateur drummers, let alone making the drumming easy enough for general audiences.

Now what I'm wondering is this: They plan on having "tons more Metallica". Obviously, older Metallica songs have double bass in them. If there is no 2nd pedal, how do they plan on going about the notes for these songs?

Obviously you can't tap one foot fast enough to represent it, would they just skip it and you'd see just the one orange bar coming at you?

My concern is that it will seriously make you fumble on the kick pedal if you hear repeated double notes while trying to keep a rhythm using only one.

I'm guessing that one tap of the pedal can represent a double bass. A lot of the guitar parts are single notes that represent chords so it wouldn't be a stretch to do. I don't think it would affect the gameplay either. Just my guess though, I'd like to know a definite answer as well.

It's simple.. there are Kick drum pedals that have two beater heads that give the same double kick drum sound without the need for a second pedal or Kick drum so one foot press gives the double sound so instead of going right foot left foot for the Double sound your just using your right.. all Harmonix need do is record the sound of the double kick and put it onto the single kick pedal track for the controller one press of the pedal gives the double sound.. it's not hard. here's the pedal i use which i'm sure Harmonix wouldn't have trouble recording and using. :)

Oh that's right! I remember seeing your post from another thread showing your set. I didn't even think of that.

Alrighty then, that answers that question.

So take for example the song One by Metallica. The part just before the break or whatever you wanna call it.

bum-bum bum-bum bum repeated over and over.

It would be more like hitting the pedal 3 times bum bum bum and it simply sounds like it was hit 5 times.

That makes sense. Thanks!

Awesome, the double bass problem is solved and no one ever needs to post about it ever again.... right?

.... In a perfect world.
