View Full Version : The most important feature for RB2 is...

If (when) you start working on Rock Band 2...I think hands down, the MOST important feature is this:
Allow us to import all of our songs from RB1 and DLC!
My biggest pet peeve with every music game ever is that I keep switching discs to play the songs I like. I realize that there may (will) eventually be a sequel, a new game engine etc...but I don't see why that means we can't somehow add the songs we've already paid for to the new game. We've already paid for the licensing, the songs are already mixed and notes already charted. It would set an amazing precedent in the music-gaming genre. A hard drive is already standard in next-gen consoles, so a sequel could just be treated like an expansion pack. A new game engine, with some new content, but still include the old content as well!

I agree on this, but how about we just enjoy RB right now instead of talking about an un-announced sequel?

I'm sure we'll be enjoying the original for a very long time :) Just wanted to throw that idea out there early for HMX to chew on :P (since we all know a sequel is inevitable)

a cool idea, i think the most likely outcome will be a feature similar to what singstar has:
Later editions of SingStar allow players to swap out the current disc (called the master disc) for another SingStar disc. This allows access to the songs on other versions without the need to reset the console. When a new disc is swapped in, the game retains the functionality and appearance of the master disc. By starting with a new version, players can swap in their old SingStar disc and experience them with the functionality and cosmetics of the master disc.

XD Invertible? I think ya mean Inevitable ^_^
Well since we are on this subject, I hope that if the BWT with friends only and no online aren't fixed for RB1, it will be for RB2. I also want to be able to kinda 'convert' my character over to RB2, so I have the same character with all that I bought, but I can upgrade him RB2 style =]

I think it would be better if it just let you DL songs you had DLed for RB1 for free, or have RB2 be able to get them from the hard drive.

Yeah, I think for me the two most important things would be having the DLC be compatible, and having online BWT. Anything else would just be a cool bonus, really.

i was going to come in here and ask why the hell you were thinking of RB2 already, but after reading your post and having the SAME exact idea, i gotta say i agree 100%..
not that i want RB2 to come out any time soon cuz i'm still having a blast with the first one, and i cant wait for the new DLC, but when rock band 2 does come out, i had this same exact idea that i really hope all the DLC and songs can be transfered into rock band 2 without having to switch the discs
