View Full Version : For all you upset about the controller situation

You do realize that the RB guitar doesn't work with either of the Guitar Hero games. This is true for both the 360 and the PS3 version of the game. I don't understand why people are so unilaterally upset with Activision when it's equally frustrating when the new RB guitars won't work with an older game, a game that they could have developed for.
I don't know what their idea of an open controller is...but it seems that everyone else's controller should work for Rock Band while the rock band controllers don't have to work for any other game. Believe it or not, there will be many (me included) that I don't yet have 2 guitars for my guitar hero game.

Actually, Activison programmed Guitar Hero III to not allow any controllers except for the Les Paul (or the X-plorer for the 360) to work. There's nothing that Harmonix could do about it.
If you read the fine print on Guitar Hero III it specifically states that you're not allowed to use any non-licensed controllers.

Mabey because Activision said NO to that idea before RB was developed, and that GH3 was just released by the time RB was about to go gold... Hence code changes will have to be made in patches.
It's their software, and it's up to them to support which controllers work with it.
If Actibliz wanted the strats to work with GH3; they'll come out with a patch to do so... The software is theirs not HMX's.
Edit: Dang you Feigned, beat me too it!

Yeah, I'm actually just as irritated over not being able to use my Strat in GH3. I mean, I'd love to be able to play both GH3 and RB co-op, but I can't unless I go buy another Les Paul, and screw that...I've already got four plastic guitars as it is. But...that's Activision's fault too. It even tells you when you start up GH3 that you're only allowed to use a GH guitar or normal controller in the game.

Personally I am done with this ****. I refuse to buy another rhythm music game until a controller standard is drafted and finalized, and I can be sure controller X will work with game Y and vice versa, as well as any new game that comes out.
I refuse to allow my home to start looking like a music store or pawn shop with dozens of controllers laying around. I'm already irritated enough to have to change games, I think for example GHIII should be able to play GHII DLC, without swapping discs... (are you listening Harmonix? keep this in mind for RB2...) and it's even more irritating to have to put controllers away and get others out...
I hope Microsoft and Sony mandate a standard controller soon. This just screws the consumer, and I am sick of it, and refuse to put up with it any longer.

Absolutely 100% with you there.
It's amusing though, in a way, that it'd take the console manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft stepping in just because producers like Activision are behaving so childishly.
I mean, they're 2 from 2, when you think about it. Or 0 from 2, whichever way you want to look at it. Someone can have a copy of Rock Band, a copy of GH3, not be able to play coop in either game, and it's all because of them.

Also what is Activisions excuse for not allowing or developing a patch for the LP to work with GH2 or the 80's. or the use of the older SG with GH3. Because Activision/Red Octane owns those games and controllers.

Harmonix wants open controller standards. Red Octane does not.
I am never going to buy another Guitar Hero game again. Ever.
