Mark Chapman was a crackcase indeed. Assuming the notion that he infact was John Lennon (even signing Johns name as his own),the only way to complete his belief that he was,was to kill the real John(or the fake,in his mind)

Hm... I was surprised to see he was actually saying something in "come together". I thought it was just "Shoom!". I didn't make the connection to his death though. In fact, for a few hours, I forgot he died at all... so weird...

Or you could go along with the conspiracy that the Reagan government brainwashed Chapman to assassinate Lennon, who was causing all sorts of problems.
Depends how much you go for conspiracy theories.

Yea, the first day me and my friend played the game's whole story straight through to the end. I was doing the voxtar thing and my friend was on drums, and when I got to this song and read the first lyrics I was like, "Wha' wha' wha' what?" I never knew he said that there.

I'm all for conspiracies, but Jimmy Carter was in office when Lennon was shot. Reagan was president elect (so "Reagan's government" wasn't quite formed yet).

I think he might be right though...the Reagan government sent chapman back in time...

Blaming Reagan for all the evil that happened in the 80s is alright by me (a very 80's punk rock thing to do). We just needed a better explanation and I believe time travel fits that bill.

Lol ive heard that theory also...the only thing I can think of to support it would be,,if anyone,,in that period in time, could muster enough people to actually fight the government,it would be John Lennon. I recently watched a video in YouTube about the president elects reaction to the new of John murder and he didnt seem to...bothered HRM :P

It's funny, a couple of my friends that I told about this (The "shhot me" lyirc, not the time-travel/brainwash/assassination thing) didn't believe me!
There's also an interview John did back in the '60s that's eerie, and heartbreaking, in retrospect. If I recall correctly, the interviewer was asking him why they decided to stop touring. John cited the excessive fatigue and stress on their bodies due to all the endless travel and hard work, and then said, "I don't want to die when I'm 40."
Guess how old he was when that loony murdered him in the street?
Anyway, I'm outta this thread now. Depressing.

Am I the only one who knew that's what he was saying?
I was happy to see that it was on the vocal chart when I played, since I kept wondering if it would be.

Wow, I was just going to post the same thing. I always thought it was "Shooop" with some reverb or echo added.
There are other instances of lyrics that I didn't know or hear clearly. While I knew the chant at the end of I Am The Walrus was "everybody's got one", I never really paid attention to the "jumper" counter chant.

My wife didn't know it was "shoot me" either. It is a very muffled line, and hard to hear, particularly the "me" part. It's probably a heroin reference rather than guns, but it is kind of creepy.

Don't believe me, I honestly don't give a ****. I told my brother about this a few weeks ago and ever since the song was announced as being in the game I wondered if it would be charted as "shoot me" or not.
I do my research on The Beatles often. I know this stuff. Quit being a jackass, thanks.

I also didn't realize he said that in Come Together. How ironic.

Yeah, I have to admit, half way through playing this it sorta dawned on me what he was saying, and it sorta made the rest of the song really somber. I didn't really get irony from it, just sadness. Maybe Lennon brainwashed the guy through music by accident. I know that'd suck to accidentally make your own assassin...

Same here on the Shoot Me lyric. The first time I read it I was very surprised.
Some lyrics sites have the end of I am the Walrus as "Everybody Smoke Pot". lol.

In 1985, the Reagan's Department of Defense fitted an American automobile with technology which made it able to travel through time at a given high speed. Back to the Future was just their cover-up. And the guy's name wasn't Mark David Chapman; John Lennon was shot in the back by Bufford "Mad Dog" Tannen over a matter of $80.
Also, never knew the lyrics were "shoot me". I always thought it was "shock-ka".

There's a line in the Hard Day's Night movie that's worse.

The phrase Shoot Me is referring to drugs.
And also, Lennon and Reagan met at a football game just a few years before his death. They got along very well and Regan even explained some of the rules and plays involved with the American version of the game.

Like the conspiracy that Paul died and the replacement was working for John Lennon who to prove he was bigger than Jesus had the replacement write Helter Skelter to inspire Charles Manson?

What spooks me out is that John Lennon says he would slow his lifestyle down because he didn't want to die at 40.
He died at 40.

I never thought about it that way. Kind of a sad and scary way to look at it. Wow such weird foreshadowing irony john had in his life.

Brainwashing is a lot more involved than listening to a song lyric. The line in the Hard Day's Night film is real obvious, but I doubt that's it, either. He was just mentally ill.

It's funny how surprised everyone is. I knew that's what said from reading the book "The Walrus is Paul". Wasn't sure if that was the "official" lyric. Kind of a "I buried Paul" (End of Saturday Fields Forever) or "Paaaaauuuullllll, Paaaaauuuullllll, Paaaaauuuullllll" (While My Guitar Gently Weeps) kind of thing...
