Does anyone know if there are certain drum sticks that work best on the drum kit? Are their any drum sticks that you can't use on the drums? Please let me know.

Drumsticks are drumsticks. They are (for the most part) pieces of wood. You could use pencils or rulers or baseball bats if you really wanted to (not recommended).

There is no type of standard drumstick that you cannot use on the RB drums. Even timpani or xylophone or marimba mallets will work if you really want to go that route.

The ones that come with RB are type 5A drumsticks. If you like that size/weight, that's what you'll need to look for in a music store.

I personally use the Yamaha Deadbeats (http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%25253D30781%252526CTID%25253D551157,00.ht ml) with the rubber tip, as they're much quieter on the RB pads. If you get a pair of those, make sure you get the DB-S (standard) and not the DB-M (marching) model.

Sweet, If I would have had these to begin with I would most likely not have cracked my yellow pad... And less horse galloping in my ears....

After watching one of my drumsticks take flight from my sweaty hand, I decided to buy a set of these (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Zildjian-DIP-Drumsticks?sku=441570) since they have some grip to them. I went with nylon tips, but they don't do anything to reduce noise.

They have, however, stayed in my hands during long sessions. Mission accomplished.

Those are the same sticks I use with my band on my real drums. Zildjian Dips, 5a with nylon tip. And for the exact same reason as you :)

I'm trying to get a pair of the Yamaha Deadbeats you posted, but Im only able to find a pair of XYMOX (http://www.drumsonsale.com/xymoxdeadbeatsrubbertippedpracticedrumsticks-p-1978.html?currency=USD)

They say they are size 2B's. How would they compare to the 5As?

Im from Canada, so if anyone can direct me to a reputable dealer who sells a good pair of deadbeat sticks that will ship to me please feel free!

My bad, I just went and looked at them, and the Xymox are the ones I got. They're identical to the Yamaha's in every way except the Logo, and a few bucks cheaper too :)

2B's are a bit fatter and heavier than 5A's, but not really noticeable once you get used to them. And the best part is, once you're used to 2B's, if you pick up a pair of 5A's again, they feel frickin' light as a feather!

I also got them from that same site you linked to, drumsonsale.com. Fast, secure, easy, I'd definitely recommend them.

I use 7A Maple Nylon Tips.

They're damn light, smooth and the Nylon erases nearly all vibration along with giving the sticks more bounce. Depending on the company, you can get them for around 15 bucks.
