Please Stop Suggesting Stairway, It Belongs On GHIII

I love Zeppelin and I love Stairway to Heaven, but this song would be god awful boring on Rock Band. The instrumental sections are far from equally divided. Everyone wants the chance to play this song, but it truly should be on Guitar Hero III.

I think it would be a fine song for RB. Vocals are great, guitar's epic, bassline.. meh. Drums arent so huge either but it'd be a good song for the first few tiers

Bonham's an amazing drummer and John Paul Jones is a great bassist. Please don't use tracks that don't showcase their talents when Led Zeppelin has some songs that would be the most amazing co-op experiences.

Yep. People are so concerned about perfectly balancing out the instruments in every song that they're missing the point... playing good music. I think they'll have a very good amount of balance in the game as is, so not EVERY SINGLE song from every artist should have to be their most balanced out song. Stairway would be the biggest crowd pleaser ever. Custard pie is more balanced but... stairway would destroy it for an audience.

I do really hope we don't get chained down to this "every single song must be completely awesome for every part" mentality. I mean, yah I want them to keep that in mind when possible, but passing up the chance to have Stairway, or a similarly awesome rock song (November Rain anyone) just because each and every part isn't well represented would completely suck. I could see limiting such songs to DLC though, that way you don't have to pay for it if you don't want it.

No the logic is it doesn't matter. If we're breaking the chain of having to commit to one instrument and generally supplying the game with good music it is going to do that. And sometimes one instrument will shine more. That's rock. That's life in a band.

interesting....but not all songs have to be perfectly balanced...they may even categorize them for single player...like vocal focus...or guitar focus...ect...they may just pic songs based around that instrument for career mode as well..whatever instrument you may be playing

But this isn't a band. It's a simulation of playing songs, not of the life of a band. There's no reason it has to emulate.

In real life, I have to spend about a third of my time sleeping. Do I want the Rock Band screen to be completely blank a third of the time while I'm playing it, to accurately simulate the band members sleeping? Do I want a driving sim to get from location to location? No.

I want to play songs, and I want to play good, fun songs no matter what instrument I'm on. If Led Zeppelin had a mediocre bassist and drummer, then go ahead and choose Stairway. But they have great bass and drums, so why essentially say, "**** you two, I'm going to have fun," when there are great all-around songs like The Ocean?

And why not have songs where the guitarist gets the short end of the stick? It's Rock Band, not "let the vocalist and lead guitar have fun, and maybe the drummer and bassist can play, too, if they're lucky."

It's a co-op game, and it was designed from the start to be a co-op game. Why just forget that when you don't feel like looking around for a slightly less famous, but more balanced song?

This is a game that is designed to be fun for ALL instruments. Stairway may not be one of my personal faves (Achilles Last Stand takes that trophy), but I really don't think it is appropriate for this game as the bass and drums are very lackluster. It may be a good candidate for download, but I would much rather see other, less popular but better rounded, Led Zeppelin songs like Achilles Last Stand, Immigrant Song, Black Dog, etc.

When a band posseses such a great bassist and drummer, why choose a song that minimizes their contributions when it is just as easy to find something that highlights their talents?

If they must draw the line somewhere, why choose to draw the line where it includes the drawbacks of being in a band? Since it's fictional, why not just keep the really good songs that are fun for everybody? Like Ramble On, The Ocean, Rock and Roll, Heartbreaker, Over the Hills and Far Away, etc.

And sure, some customers do want Stairway, but as anybody who has ever worked in retail can tell you, the customer rarely knows what's best.

What you are missing here is that : Nobody actually wants stairway

And those few people who want stairway in the game only want it because its the only led zeppelin song they know , if they are shown to achilles last stand , over the hills and far away , the ocean... whatever... they will QUICKLY learn that those songs are more fun to hear and to play with plastic instruments

I love Immigrant Song, and it'd be hella fun to sing.

Unfortunately, listen to the guitar. It plays the same 4 second riff for the whole song, and it doesn't have a solo. Maybe as DLC, because it'd be fun for some parts, but the main game should ideally have a song that's fun for everybody.

Oh, I understand that there are going to be lulls and silences in very many songs, and I'm prepared for that (Hell, my favorite song in the game has a 30 second synth break!), however I guess I didn't express my point clearly enough.

I feel that there are LZ songs out there that better represent ALL members of the group and are better balanced and would, therefore, like to see those songs released first. I'm not saying never release Stairway, I would just like to see other songs first.

Actually of what I've observed there's a fair amount of both. And I don't mind either way because while Stairway has nostalgia you're right there are better songs.

But suggesting is not the end of the world. And the reasons given are nonsensical. If you know there's better songs out there say so! But slammery is pointless.

I'm not defending Stairway what I'm saying is there's no good reason I've heard to not even suggest it.

I really expected more from the people at this forum. To the few who mentioned ALS, you have my applause/gratitude. To the ones that cry about unbalance not being a reason to include this song... I'm sure you can justify spending the money on these toy instruments that will hardly be used because you want to hear your favorite songs play on your 360. And for god sakes dl a Zeppelin discography, you all have some learning to do.
