View Full Version : Hmmm... Career modes.

Heres a new one. Since there will be career modes for the individual instruments, this will create a weird issue. Sometimes the guitar's hard but the drums are easy, or vice versa ad nauseum. So how will they do the setlists? Looks like they might have to switch around all the songs to cater to each instruments difficulty. Otherwise you'd have a very unbalanced setlist. Wonder how the tiers will end up...

For the entire band, how would they set it up? Each songs average difficulty across instruments?

I don't think it would be a problem changing the order of the songs for the different instruments. It would actually add some variety.

Wouldnt be a problem at all, just curious as to how they'd do it.. Songs would unlock in different order, some of the 'surprises' that show up at the end like GH (freebird.. not that it was a surprise to most of us) would be exposed right away. I bet they'll have a good system in the end though.

Yea, for the individual instrument careers, I'm sure it's safe to say they'll reorder with ease.

But co-op band career? That's where the challenge lies. But I trust they'll look into each song very deeply to see what order the songs are most difficult.

The only thing I expect is that the bass would be the only thing odd. Harder songs may be towards the beginning while even toward the end some songs will still seem pedestrian on expert.

I would imagine the difficulties could be all different in "Co-op" mode.

I bet they'll keep the big surprises where they are regardless of difficulty for each instrument........and switch around everything else where it should be

Why not drop the idea of pre-defined song order completely? Let the player set his own set-list.

Say, in order to get to the next level, you have to play a show at your current level and get a certain amount of points. You can choose any five songs you want for that show, but once you use a song, you can't use it again. The point requirements could be dynamic to make sure that you'd always be able to 'finish' the game regardless of what order you chose songs at. That way you could order it however you wanted, and made sure your final, kick-ass show was exactly the show you want it to be.

I like it :)

I agree with the set list creation. If not in career mode, at least make an option where the band can select any number of songs to play in a row (Saving the points and such at the end of every song), that way you don't have to go through the list every time to pick songs.

That's a pretty cool idea. I'd love to be able to make my own set and rock out to it.

I still think they will go the traditional route and make the difficulty player dependent.

I think they will have a rating system for each song ex.

Wont Get Fooled Again would be (just estimates)
9 for drums
9 for bass
7 for guitar
8 for singing=
33 out of 40

I think that would work, but I'm sure Harmonix has it all under control. :)

Actually thats an extremely good idea... ranking seperate instruments out of 10 on difficulty. Good show man

that sounds like it would be a perfect rating system for coop...it would work well with the game

It would be a good way to rate all the instruments OUTSIDE of co-op too... Go from level 1 songs on drums up to level 10 in the last tier, etc... Mix it all together in co-op to get the final scores and setlist.

I like the idea of rating each instrument out of 10 for its difficulty. If the co-op setlist was fixed to a certain order it would add another level of awesomeness and realism to the game by putting pressure on specific band members to practice more than others to get through a particularly hard song.

that would be awesome...say you see that for one song the drum is 7..the guitar is 5 the vocals are 10 and the bass is 5 then that puts a lot of extra pressure on the singer...thats great...very realistic

Man that is hard core realism in a video game lol.

I'm sure this has been asked before but will you be able to both sing and play an instrument?

Phiromos
07-17-2007, 09:04 AM
its possible..it'll be hard and you'll need a mic stand..but you can do it there is no option to have the player and singer be one person in the game tho

I think whether they choose to have a "setlist" be the career thing or the "instruments out of 10" it will be great. although, if they don't choose the setlist thing then they should include it as a mode or something. it seems like a great idea!

I've been thinking about the setlist thing for a while.

they could make a concert mode where you choose what songs you want to play, and have one as an encore that you would play if you did good enough.
