Rodrigo, be quiet. Don't get all butthurt, this is obvious lego satire. They're not taking it serious, but yea it is weird that a punk icon was made into a lego.
For making a lego figure I wouldn't go as far as saying they are becoming neversoft. Calm down boy, go take a nap.

No No No. Please no! Let this be a figure that someone just edited with all available bricks, because I don't want to see Iggy or Bowie in LEGO...
O dear, the value ot the export function has doubled now.
Sorry, but in my point of view it is not a parody, but a heavy tame down. I don't want some of my musical heroes compressed into a flat mock off for kids.... Sorry, I really am a humerous guy and the game style is cute, but in my eyes this step is not taking the art of music making and alternative lifestyles seriously.

Let me guess, the people that think it's funny or great are (probably) the ones who flame Neversoft for doing this? Pretty sure HMX has stated before they weren't going to have Real Musicians in the game because their music was the focus of the game.
Great, now Iggy Pop can play a Blink 182 song. Bad way to ruin your career.

Iggy Pop has a duet out with Sum 41, so I don't think he'd mind playing a blink-182 song.

I don't really care either way. If given the option, I'd rather create my own character, however, with the context of the game, I don't see a whole lot of desirable customizations options coming from Lego.

I'm going to make this really simple for you.
Kurt Cobain and Johnny Cash are dead and can't consent to being used as puppets to sing Bon Jovi and Flava Flav (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UuAoEW5MbI).
Iggy Pop is alive and agreed to be in the game. Given that he's doing car insurance commercials (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYnydYrZPp8), something tells me he cares less about how his image is used than Cobain and Cash did when they were alive.
Anyone who can't see the difference is either trolling, or an idiot. Take your pick.

While I agree, I would debate a Lego minifig version being an "actual musician," whether or not he's supposed to represent one, seeing as it's more about him being a minifig than it being him per se.

That doesn't change the fact that Rock Band, a game that started with being about the music and custom characters, is going to get an actual musician to be in the game, something that they've stated before in an interview that they wouldn't do. Yeah, go ahead and call me a idiot, after all, you sure do understand my argument.

I've made a cottage industry out of re-creating real-life (and real-dead) rockers in RB, as my Profile gallery will attest. I'm sure LRB will feature those same kind of nods towards familiar iconic costumes.

He did, according to a Rolling Stone/Entertainment Weekly/? (I can't remember which magazine it was in) interview that came out last month where Iggy mentioned that he was about to become lego-ized. This was about a week or so before Wired leaked The Passenger as a song in LRB.
I agree 100%. That's my favorite part about these games: getting kids into great music that they've probably never heard before.
Bingo.
The fact that Iggy Pop is still alive and consented to use of his image makes this a lot different than the Cobain playable character. Also the fact that it's a LEGO representation of him rather than "just him" as someone else stated makes it different. Also, who is to say that he is a playable character outside of his own songs? Having an Iggy Pop LEGO figurine singing 'Lust for Life' is a lot different than having a 'lifelike'/'realistic' representation of Iggy Pop singing 'Bring Me to Life.'

Even then, it isn't like they're being put on a pedestal. Just rendered in Lego pieces, that I imagine you can reconfigure how ever you want.
I am really looking forward to character making for this, as I imagine they'll be able to put in TONS AND TONS of stuff, since most things will be using the same body geometry and just the nature of Legos in general.

I think the difference between this and the GH situation is unlike Guitar Hero with its reputation for shady ethical practices and product placement that may make it look like an artist is selling out, Lego's have a reputation of their own.
They bring up memories of innocence and childhood, and not commercialism or tacky over the top money grabbing. (I have nothing but respect for most of the living artists that have appeared in GH to date though, I'm pretty sure most of them are too hard working to really notice the things we do)
Lego has proven themselves brilliant at provinding their unique brand of humor parody to some very sacred works of entertainment (Look at Lego: Batman, Star Wars, and Indana Jones) and despite being a tad formulaic no ones ever knocked them for what they've done by bridging a gap between the children of today and the classic works that came before their time. Having a musician show up on Lego: Rock Band is more akin to having their song parodied by Weird Al Yankovic than being used in a Jean commercial (Yes I'm aware of Iggy's rep as of late and the jean commercial)
Lego Rock band won't tarnish an artist's reputation. More likely than not the other way around (I keep waiting for Lego Iggy to start cutting up his chest and watching little red lego bricks start pouring onto the stage)

I think using real-life musicians in any music game is kind of tacky. In a game like Lego Rock Band where making your own characters is going to be a big part of the game's experience, it's especially distracting and pointless. I get that it contributes somewhat to the atmosphere of the game being a silly take on rock music, but I think it's something that needed to stay a Guitar Hero feature.
I don't like this and if it's a big part of the game I'm just going to wind up spending a lot less time playing the songs on the disc. I'll export and toss it over my shoulder if it's going to be like this.

Yeah, I talked about this a little when I talked at Boston Postmort. Real people is something that totally fits with LEGO when they're a minifig, but would never fit in a mainline Rock Band game.
Also, something that was announced but not picked up by most of the articles I've seen: Iggy is also the voice of the tutorials in LRB. He's an incredibly nice, sweet, and awesome guy by all reports.

In a game like Lego Rock Band where making your own characters is going to be a big part of the game's experience, it's especially distracting and pointless. I get that it contributes somewhat to the atmosphere of the game being a silly take on rock music, but I think it's something that needed to stay a ROCK BAND feature.
I don't like this and if it's a big part of the game I'm just going to wind up spending a lot less time playing the songs on the disc. I'll export and toss it over my shoulder if it's going to be like this.
Corrected a line in there for you.
You *do* realize that Rock Band's Create A Rocker feature allows you (and *encourages* you) to create real-life rockers....? Just like, oh I dunno, LEGO RB's character creator likely will.
In case you were wondering how on earth to create real-life rockers in RB, just look at my profile page. I've got over 100 Hall-of-Famers (and not-so HoFers) on my roster, from The Who all the way up to Muse.

LEGO isn't made by Harmonix
Um... Technically, it is. It's running on an engine created and developed by Harmonix, and they can't NOT have influence on the game right now.

For the record, when this (http://www.theonion.com/content/files/images/Iggy-Pop.jpg) is the third image that shows up when you google "Iggy Pop", I don't think he really has to worry about ruining his career too much.

Hmmm. I think that as long as all the minifigs are based on artists that are still living and gave their ok, it's fine. In fact, I think it would highlight that persons sense of humor. I'm all for that.

I'm sure LEGO/HMX would still have to buy licenses for the likenesses of real celebrities, living or dead, even for a LEGO game, so any and all characters who show up will most likely have the blessing of the artists or their estate.
I mean, I could really see a LEGO Elvis showing up in there, too....

hahahaha! I wanna see Rush Lego Figures!
Video in the link above.
If we can't get RUSH Rock Band, this is an acceptable alternative. But I want to play all of their songs in it :D.

I think the fact that he's voicing the tutorials says that it's pretty conclusive that it REALLY is Iggy.

That is simply awesome, I hope they do more characters than just Iggy Pop. I'm thinking about buying this game more and more.

After playing The Beatles : Rock Band, I actually enjoy playing as the real life artists in the games. The caveat is that it has to be songs they actually sang. I wouldn't like being John Lennon and singing Man In The Box. It just wouldn't feel right. But if real life artists got into the regular Rock Band series and were available as an option in Quickplay when playing their groups' songs, THAT would be awesome. I'm now inclined to create a Layne Staley character in Rock Band for when I play the AiC song.

Last I checked, Iggy Pop wasn't dead. Can't say the same for Cobain or Cash.

I'm curious what you think TT Games part in all this is then?

Damn it, now HMX is starting to become Neversoft. The one thing I didn't want Rock Band to have is actual musicians in the game.
Did you honestly expect not to see these kind of appearances in a Lego game... which in general have a minimum of 50 playable characters on a normal basis to go with the customisable ones. I had a feeling we would see some musicians as Lego figures but i wasnt sure how many?
