man...I can get as far as 86% on this darn song on medium. what tips or tricks have you guys done to beat this song?

it seems likes its a sick joke to be counted as a medium. Ive donr everything I can think of towards the end of the song to beat it...skipping foot pedal etc.

help!

Don't skip the foot pedal. I think you're penalized more for missing kicks and snare hits than anything else. Get the foot and the snare going and add in the other stuff when it's comfortable for you.

Oh and save your overdrive for those tough sections.

Been a few posts on it...

But I'll help ya out anyway since this was one song that made me wanna throw my drumset out the damn window.

Here's the thing... it's got tempo changes. I don't know if it's SUPPOSED to have them.. or if the cover band just couldn't keep a proper beat... but where you are failing is where it gets to the Y/YR/Y/R part that goes on forever with some random change ups from time to time.

Because there's SO many notes at once if you miss more than a couple you're going to fail RIGHT AWAY.

The only way I was able to beat it was to look away from the screen and zone out. After about 3 tries I had a pretty good idea of how it went so I just turned the t.v. up real loud and played by ear instead of reading the notes.

Doing that.. I can beat it every time it comes up now, usually getting about a 95% or higher.

Ha ha. I sort of cheated, after being aggravated with failing constantly. I did the drumming while I got my cousin to press the foot pedal, and let me tell you, that in it self was not easy. After awhile while drumming the same pattern I started to lose it and had to restart myself a couple times. And while I did cheat, it was still gratifying to complete the song.

But, I'm still determined to conquer the song on my own. I just wanted to be able to move on to the rest of the songs.

Lol, having someone else hit the kick pedal only works if you're not a real drummer. ;)

I can't play most songs on medium because they don't have all the kicks/drums so I'm always hitting extra drums. lol

I wish I could do that on some songs though, lol

i'm with you on this one man

A) that song is $^@* hard as hell. what the heck is it doing in that group? i've beaten some DLC on medium that is in the last two difficulty levels, but i can't pass this stupid song on the 4 (or 5th) level??

B) it's not even fun to play. it's those two notes RY then RO over and over and over and over again for like 10 minutes. not fun. take chart maker out back and shoot him please.

I don't really have a problem with this song, I'm guessing endurance is a big part of being able to play it. It comes with time, so keep practicing!

I actually found this to be one of the easier songs since there are very little offbeat bass notes (on Medium and Hard anyway, I haven't tried it on Expert yet). Offbeat notes kill me. The only thing that gets me is stamina, I am tired by the time that last solo is halfway over. It is really easy to zone out on the notes and lose track because they are so repetitive.

I found this song to be quite easy on Expert. For those having trouble just watch out for the tempo changes. Oh yeah, and when you do get through it better get yourself ready for Run for the hills lol :)

I'll throw my 2 cents in and agree with what everyone says here.

Mostly, in my opinion, practice practice practice!!!

If you're having trouble because of the speed, go to practice mode and slow it down till it almost becomes 2nd nature.

I went back after beating medium and practiced for while and ended up 5 starring it all on medium.

Now in hard, I've had to go through *many* songs in practice mode slowed down to get the beats right before being able to just beat them. I will say that after doing well on GG&HT on medium, hard made it a breeze and i think i 4 starred it first run though.

I've beaten all but Run to the Hills, and Next to You on Hard. With more work I'm sure I can get those too.

I'll agree with run to the hills as well. One thing on that song, PRACTICE ALTERNATING HANDS if you're not used to playing real drums. You may not *need* it on medium, but believe me it will help you with basic mechanics for later on.

I am SO phenomally pissed right now! I was neck and neck with another drummer during a drum duel...

...until seven minutes into the song. Since I'm a drummer in real life and do A LOT of punk beats as of recent, I start pulling away. When he/she starts getting behind by 40 thousand points, he/she says screw it and logs off. THAT'S WEAK!

Lesson to be learned, if you're ever in a drum duel for this song and seven minutes after sweatin it out and you see yourself behind, be a fricken good sport and see the song to the end. Otherwise, in my opinion, you're a chump. The other person on the other side isn't a computer, it's some dude/dudette who's leg is crampin up just like yours! WEAK!

...is it obvious, I'm pissed!

Someone mentioned it earlier, but a cheap way through is to save your Overdrive for the faster sections and take a break during the fills. The song is not overly difficult, it just beats on you for the last 6 minutes or so. You'll also find that you will be more accurate on the Y/RY/Y ... parts between fills. They are not so difficult for a few sections at a time, but if you try to play them straight through without a rest, you'll get lost.

That's how I got through it. Just save your overdrive and the fill sections will give you much needed rest and help you keep on beat. Use it if you start to fall in the red but chances are that you'll be fine if you're consistently making it to 85% or so without using the fill strategy. Just don't hope for a great score.

I never really had any trouble with this song other than stamina. I beat it on hard the first try I took at it. Also, I've never drummed in my life before this game. (lol) The only thing that I can offer is to learn to comprehend the notes before they reach the bottom. Being an experienced rhythm gamer (Pump It Up, DDR, Guitar Hero, Poppin' Music) I've noticed it helps to be able to just do what comes at you as opposed to going through a process in your head telling yourself "ok this is what it is, I have to hit these buttons, ok now do it." The thought process slows down your ability to react. All my friends that have started playing this game also ask me how I got so good and it's simply because I can read the screen at a rapid rate. Once you learn to read it and just do it without thinking, you will see yourself get better and faster without going into practice mode.

GGHT absolutely owned me when I got to it on Medium. I don't know why, but I could NOT get the kick timing down for the life of me. I ended up cheating shamelessly: saving my OD to get breaks, and just leaving out the kick pedal. Felt kind of cheap, but I got through the song all right.

And amusingly enough, when I got back up to it on Hard I was able to play the pattern that killed me perfectly with no problem (other than my leg falling off halfway through, of course :p).

I failed it at first... But then I was suddenly blessed with godly rythym. I have this tendancy with both the guitar and the Drums to count out whole notes...

With this I just kept saying "ONE TWO" with the beat, where one was the Red and Yellow, and 2 was the snare and bass.

I 5 starred it =D

Being COMPLETELY new to Drums and only having gotten Rock Band on Friday.. this was the first song that I failed .. on Easy. Having said that.. there was an interesting tip today in one of the loading screens that said you'll lose more crowd support if you miss the kick drum or snare (So the pedal and the red pad). Focus on nailing those two more than anything else if anything. If you need to miss another pad, the penalty won't be so bad in comparison.

The fast section begins at about 78% or 79%. If your getting to 86% your starting to get a feel for the alternatinr RY/OY beat pattern. If you fall off of it, forget about your foot for a while. Just nail the red and yellow notes. The crowd level will fall but not nearly as fast as missing the whole thing. When your feel stable again, start to bring your pedal back into it. You can't lose the foot completely and not get booed off but you skip a fair bit. I sure did!

Mainly, just keep practicing, mostly at full tempo. If your like me, the main problem was one of ankle stamina.

If it makes you feel better, after finally beating it on my 15th or 16th try, I went on to sight read the entire next tier to 5 stars.

After seeing this post, I went back and just played it. I thought this was a relatively easy one, 5 starred it the 2nd time and haven't gone back. Just increrased to 282K and a 604 note streak, my largest thus far. For this one, you really just have to get in the groove and relax. I'm having a hard time with Enter Sandman right now. The alternating blue/yellows and the end are killing me.

The "harder" songs just have to do with finding and keeping the rhythm...some people are well suited to weird rhythms... I 5-starred learn to fly on a sight read but failed out of this at 86% my first time through... there's nothing all that funky, just a lot of bass pedal....so much bass pedal....

Yeah this one was tough. I just practiced all of the other songs repeatedly until I felt that my skills were getting better. After I barely beat that song, I beat like ten in a row with 4-5 stars.

I had read a lot about GGaHT being real hard...got to it on hard difficulty and got scared. Played it, and 5 starred on sight read (and there were others in that Tier that I had failed out of). The rhythm just felt natural throughout.
