Being a fan of the Beatles for decades it is truly a let down to see that there are only 3 highways when there were 4 members of the band, 4 played instruments so there should be 4 tracks not 3......also the on-line verses / quickplay mode sucks compared to Guitar Hero, why is it that we can only have one of each instrument playing online at the same time and only single instruments in a tog of war, how cool would it be to have Johns, Georges and Pauls or full bands for that matter battling on line??? I would have gladly payed more for the ability to play as they played with 4 members playing different tracks.....with today's larger screen tv's 4 highways would have been fine.......

I'm guessing you want rhythm guitar? I'm a bit too tired to really make sure...

Obviously, the lineup changed constantly in the studio, but typically the line up was
John Lennon: Vocals, Rhythm guitar
Paul McCartney: Vocals, Bass
George Harrison: Vocals, Lead Guitar
Ringo Starr: Vocals, drums
Hint: vocals are an instrument. In RBTB, you play a combination of John and George's guitar parts (and of course in one case, Eric Clapton... plus McCartney did some guitar work, but I digress), and all of their vocals. The only possible scenario I could think of where you wouldn't be using all four of them is when a guitar section is entirely Harrison's (usually it's a combination) and Lennon isn't singing... except he's almost always doing backup vocals.
So, pretty much, Can't Buy Me Love... and I'm relatively sure you play Lennon's guitar part in the verses.

I just think that with this release they would have broken form and accomodated all 4 members of the band...rather then using the same old code for the highways....and yes I do play the Lennon guitar but George was my favorite Beatle

Breaking up the guitar chart into lead and rhythm would have meant a lesser experience than what's there now. I'm okay with the way they do it.

It would be difficult to add yet another note scroll to the screen, as it would mean they'd all have to be reduced in size. You have to keep in mind that some people don't have huge displays, and some don't even have widescreen displays.

A very unlikely wish is that they did this so that the songs would be compatible in the RB franchise at some point, should The Beatles (shareholders) ever lighten up to the idea.
There's the four parts, there's the green line leading up to the crash cymbal that would probably represent the fill in the code (and just gets read as the line in TB:RB), and the rumours of having vocal harmonies in a later RB game.

Guitar would be very boring if it didn't switch between rhythm and lead like it does.

this
although i kind of agree with the not having all 4 members in the band at once deal.. whole band tug of war is silly...

Not to mention that the 360 and Wii (not sure about PS3) can't connect more than 4 controllers at once. So you can't accomodate lead, rhythm, bass, drums and a controller for vocals all at the same time.

There are four instruments. They just figured rhythm would be boring to play.

Because HMX would rather people who buy full band games actually play full band games instead of four player lead guitar.

This is the only reason that makes sense. It's totally legit and most likely the reason they did it. Had the capability been there to add another controller easily, I'd wager that that Lennon's and Harrison's wives would have insisted separate charts to keep things more realistic.
It's actually kinda hard to voxtar some parts that were a mix of John and George due to playing lead and singing.

I Me Mine was recorded without John.

I Me Mine was recorded without John.
And, Back in the USSR and Dear Prudence were recorded without Ringo.

On the 360, you can plug a headset into each of the instruments, so I'm sure this wasn't as much of a technical limitation as we might initially think.
It was done to keep in form, yes there are technical reasons but "rhythm would be boring" isn't one of them any more than "bass is boring" stopped it from being in RB to begin with.
And at least we have that with TB:RB, right? No one can say "bass is boring" in this game. :D

There is a long discussion about this issue here (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163518) with some comments from the developers.

All I am saying is give....me 4 highways like the game that ends with 5 allows and I'm sure that with some additional coding for the 3 vocals we can really see what it was like to be a Beatle....also see my comments on "2 guitars and bass..No"?
