I heard that you can plug the kick pedal into the new guitars that were released w/ TB:RB so that you can activate Beatle Mania with it. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

It's true.

It's true and it's a pretty cool feature.

Ahhh now I really want one, I just feel stupid shelling out $100 on a plastic guitar

Yeah, this is now my favorite way to activate overdrive/Beatlemania. I just wish my bass pedal cord was longer!

yup it's true...but it's also been true since the RB2 strats came out

yeah it works with RB2 strats as well. also, MadCatz is releasing a "stomp box" add on for a little more fun.

You can do this with any RB2 guitar.

Same here. I've done it, but the short cord makes it more difficult than it has to be.

Does anyone know if a GH:WT drum pedal would work for this functionality?

There is no reason it wouldn't. A GH pedal works in an RB drum kit (We've done it), it's just a simple switch.

I've never heard of this. I will have to tell my friends who play the guitars. I doubt they knew either. Pretty cool feature if you ask me. So with the pedal you don't have to tilt the guitar anymore?

What platform are you playing on? I'm on x360, and I can confirm that I am unable to use a GH:WT pedal with my drums, and it also does not work to activate overdrive on an RB2 strat. My RB1 and RB2 pedals work fine.
Granted, the GH:WT pedal was from my bro's Wii, but I'd wager that the drum pedals are the same for all kits across all platforms, and I doubt that's an issue.
Anyone else get a GH pedal working with RB drums?

Hmm... if you can use an overdrive or bass pedal in your Rock Band guitar controllers, then I hope the overdrive pedal can take a beating when I use it for drums. He he he...

I use a small piano pedal for mine - this one http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/MPM-Sustain-Pedal?sku=450428, with a 1/4 to 1/8 jack adapter on it. Any 'normally open' pedal with a 1/8 jack should work.

That's incorrect. GH pedals do not work in RB drum kits (unless you use a Kickbox or something similar, a Twin Rocker/PDP adapter works too sorta). And they don't work as OD pedals for RB guitars either for the same reason.

Correct, you just press the pedal.

We play on XBox, and we got the GH:Metallica pedal and used it with RB1 drums when playing GH:M. None of my friends even owns a set of GH drums, but our drummer commented that he found the GH pedal to be more comfortable when playing. So it must work in RB drums- not sure why it doesn't work for you. I haven't tried it in a guitar, and I don't know if the GH:M pedal would be different than a WT pedal (can't imagine how). I'm just telling you what we know.

Thanks for those links - I might look into that piano pedal, since it's not much more costly than the extension cable.

I picked up a similar item (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103366)at Radio Shack today for $5 and it's a major help in using a drum pedal for OD.
There are times where I still break my streak when stepping on the pedal, but that's not a hardware issue - that's just me getting used to using the pedal. It's nice to not have to tilt the guitar, it's nice to know that OD will go off exactly when I want it to.
Eventually I'll want to get a small sustain pedal, in the interest of portability and not getting in the way. I suppose I could even replace their usual 1/4" jack with a 1/8" jack, and perhaps even belt-mount it to activate with my elbow while strumming, if I really wanted to.

Tattoo Machine footswitches make a groovy OD pedal.
They come in all kinds of funky styles and whatnot. Ying Yang, Stars, Devils, Etc...
Try an eBay search for Tattoo Footswitch.
They will come with a 1/4 Mono plug so you will need a 1/4 to 1/8 adaptor or do what I did and solder on a new 1/8 plug.
Ohhhh, Acylic transparent ones... thats begging for an LED inside...
Stand by... :)

Out of curiosity... is there any reason this wouldn't also function as a drum pedal as well?
