View Full Version : I actually have a Guitar Hero 5 question...

Hey so i had a little extra money this month and decided to pick up Guitar Hero 5 since it comes with Guitar Hero: Van Halen for free and because i play RB2 so much that i am beginning to become a little bored of it.
But i have a pretty important question, and the forums on Guitar Hero's website are basically deserted. I've posted on there and only 1 person has responded, without helping me, in the past 4 or 5 days.
So my question is pretty much for anyone else also buying Guitar Hero 5 as their first Guitar Hero game. I want to play some DLC from Guitar Hero:World Tour in Guitar Hero 5. I know there's a patch you get from the options portion of the main menu in the game. But i'm wondering if that still works if i don't have any sort of save file for Guitar Hero:World Tour?
Is there any way to play the World Tour DLC without having to buy a used copy of the game just to have the save file in my PS3? Like can i just download the patch, and from there on in any DLC i download from World Tour will be automatically applied to my Guitar Hero 5 save data?
If anyone can help out i'd really appreciate it!

I could be way off since I don't own the game, but I'd assume that you should be able to buy the DLC and use it in GH5. I don't think that you have to own World Tour in order to play the DLC songs that are compatible with both WT and GH5. I know the Jimi Hendrix songs (and maybe a few more) are only available in WT, but everything else should work in GH5 once you download it.
I could be wrong though.

Just download the patch and then download some DLC, simple.

yeah go to Options then Import Songs
it's the first option on the list
you don't need to have even had GHWT

For DLC, there's a patch avaliable for you to download on the Music Store on Wii (Options Menu for PS3/360).
For Disc Songs, if you have a code, you can enter it & download past songs for 10 cents a song. There's only a few songs to import now, but the list will build up as time passes.

It seems like i would be able to just download World Tour songs from the actual GH5 in-game store and they'd already be fully integrated, is that true?

The GHWT DLC patch creates a GHWT folder on your HDD, so you don't need the disc (it also updates the songs or some such to work with new features). I believe you can DL those from the GH5 music store and everything is good to go.
The DLC is like 95% compatible (no Hendrix and a couple other random songs).
In case I'm misreading your post, the GHWT and GHSH On-disc setlists are not downloadable from the music store and requires the code from the manual to import the paltry 35 and 21 songs.

it's actually just Hendrix from the DLC that doesn't work on GH5
I'm disappointed that more songs from GHWT and GHSH don't carry over, but I guess it is what it is. Hopefully they add more as time goes on and 10 cents a song isn't too bad.

They say they're adding more, but ya never know with Activision. Remember, they promised us Wii owners a Music Store and failed to deliver up until GHWT came out.
