View Full Version : Kanye West snubs Taylor Swift @ VMAs!

I personally like Taylor Swift. I think this is unacceptable behavior on his part. This isn't the first time he's opened his mouth about something, is it?

EDIT: Viacom removed the video. Sorry. But he was a jack***. He said Beyonce should've won best music video.

I think Kanye West may be the biggest douche-bag of all time and I'm glad South Park portrayed him the right way.

Kanye is a douche with a huge ego, but I love him for that. He's so entertaining.

He always has something stupid to say at these awards shows anyways.

I remember when MTV started the VMA's and Movie Awards as a way to stick it to the mainstream awards shows. People used to show up in jeans and have fun. Now it is all formal wear and what not. Not cool anymore.

This appears to be the same thread. It's the replies that have vanished.

On topic: Beyonce made up for it at the end letting Swift do her thing.

EDIT: Viacom removed the video. Sorry. But he was a jack***. He said Beyonce should've won best music video.

Well, not exactly...not that I'm defending the d-bag's actions, but he said "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!". He didn't specifically say "she should have won the award", although it was clearly implied. Here's the video link on MTV's site:

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1621389/20090913/west_kanye.jhtml

Taylor looked like she was about to cry, and Beyonce was visibly horrified. But Beyonce was a class act and when she won "Video of the Year" later in the night, she brought Taylor back up on stage to let her have her moment and finish her speech. That video:

http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/436021/beyonce-wins-video-of-the-year.jhtml

I mean, c'mon...Taylor Swift is what, like 19? What a jackass.

Has anyone had a worse year and a half in terms of publicity than Kanye? Let's count them down shall we.....

1) Bonnaroo: Whaa Kanye doesn't want to play before Pearl Jam, and then whines that his stage took too long to set up, pissing off the audience and leading to F*** Kanye chants all weekend
2) Lollapalooza: I was at this thing. In his HOMETOWN, he had such a poor show, that NIN's crowd literally tripled in size by the end of the night. People were flying out of his show left and right.
3) SNL: Get's caught at best auto-correcting his tone, and at worst lip-synching
4) MTV Europe VMA: See above.
5) MTV VMA: Last night. Oh, and there's a report out that he was on meth last night.

Nah, I still think it was staged. Kanye isn't exactly one to really care what people think about him, as you can see in his past antics. Meanwhile, this will majorly boost Swift and Beyonce sales, and I don't really think there's going to be a boycott on Kanye's music

I just think it was staged by the way they would mention it before going to break, and how Swift came back out in a completely different dress - but at the same time, matching with Beyonce

I just think some producers approached Kanye with the idea and he was just like whatever, sure

I agree with Beyonce's high class move, however it did not set it right. What Kanye did was steal a moment, stole Swift's time to shine, no matter how many times her "moment" is artifically recreated.

This is that same thread, with all but the first post removed because of excessive off-topic posting that was too frequent to bother sorting through. Next time people will probably be getting banned in conjunction with the abundance of blatant derailing posts being removed. There are already places for off-topic chatter in General, and intentionally and ruthlessly derailing threads focusing on certain discussions is not cool (or allowed).

So, Kanye's interview on Jay Leno's new show just concluded.

Leno pretty much asked all the questions that we might've wanted to. "What were you thinking," "When did you realize this was wrong," and, perhaps most profoundly, "Would your mother be ashamed if she were around to see this?"

Kanye seemed to get emotional and went on to say that when he first started out, he only wanted to help people, and that the realization that he just went out there and stepped on an eager new artist's emotions and how rude it was was shameful to him.

So I dunno, the circus continues, I guess.

I'm not gonna lie, even though that was a massive dick move, at least Kanye is one of the few pop musicians out there who has the balls to speak his mind.

This is probably better exemplified by what he said after Katrina but still, I don't see say Lady Gaga or Lil Wayne going out there and being critical of something they don't like and goes against public opinion...

The way he talked, it seemed like W. could control hurricanes and exactly where they would strike. The disaster that resulted in New Orleans was a long time in coming, and for many reasons that extend beyond the slow response by FEMA.

That said, he's blaming the booze.

I'm not gonna lie, even though that was a massive dick move, at least Kanye is one of the few pop musicians out there who has the balls to speak his mind.

Would you tell us if you were going to lie as well?

To speak his mind? When speaking your mind is saying things like "I'm the next King of Pop" what, like 2 days after MJ died, I wouldn't say that speaking your mind is a good thing.

/and no, I'm not making that up, I'll find the direct quote if you like
