I strongly disagree with that sentiment. Good musicians often do very good versions of the Beatles songs... Joe Cocker and Jimi Hendrix just to name a couple.

People who are in bands only because corporations are trying to sell something to girls should stay as far away from the Beatles as possible.

Oh come on, at least GNR is a rock band covering a rock song. Depending on my mood I sometimes like the cover better. :O Has a better buildup, whereas the Stones stay in "rocking blues" mode through the whole song.

Blame the whores who own the beatles songs. They are the ones that sold the jonas brothers the rights to play it.Write to Sony/ATV saying what Beatles song(s) you will be covering, your intended release date, and how many copies you plan to sell. See if they:

A. grant you a license upon receipt of advance royalties; or
B. write back, "no way, you suck."

If you've commercially released a song and someone wants to release their own version with substantially similar lyrics and music, you have to license it to them. It's the law.

Even if Sony/ATV were not required to license "Hello Goodbye" by Lennon-McCartney to the Jonas Brothers, they would not be "whores" for doing so. Are they responsible for dictating good taste, or safeguarding the Beatles' legacy by preventing their music from ever being performed again?
