Anyone remember your first time playing GH or GH2? Mine was around the time GH1 came out in the dorms... I didn't like it at first cuz I sucked but I realized how much I actuall liked it over break where I wanted to play soo bad, by the second semester I was hooked and I haven't looked back ever since....

I bought it sight unseen.. (ok, I saw it in a box) On the day it came out. Based on a blurb/review in OPM. Loved it right away.

I sucked at first. I remember trying to play Surrender by Cheap Trick in GHII and I didn't know that you could hold in the green and red and strum for another chord. But, I play on expert mode now.

I wanted GH1 for Christmas, but never got it, asked again the next year and instead got GH2 (I would have prefered GH1 after looking at the song list, but I wasn't complaining.) And went straight down and beat easy mode and moved on to medium (with some blue button difficulties) and was stuck there and gave up until about 2 months later when I picked it up and somehow managed to play a hard song no problem...
Now I play on expert.

you could beat hard after 2 months of not playing? That makes me look like a total idiot. I barely beat it after 2 YEARS of actually playing

I played in Wal-Mart and fell in love. Jumping to the beat of I Love Rock N' Roll.
Got both GH's that Christmas and was HOOKED! I had a wired and wireless with frets on the top and bottom like the Rock Band guitar but modeled after the Flying V. By March I was playing expert. Then got GHII on 360 the week of release. But my disc got an odd scratch which I should be able to repair this weekend.

I'd never heard of it until I saw some guys at Adelaide Uni playing it at there friday night gaming thing they do. Had a shot of it (smoke on the water on easy) and was instantly addicted. I saved up my money and bought it for myself a couple of weeks later.

Saw GH 1 trailer, thought it looked awsome, happened to be in a best buy, and they had it a week early, baught it, took it home (1 hour to do a 3 mile trip thanks to rushour) set it up, and failed miserbly at it. Yep, but then after half a year, I got better, then I got to the skill of being able to play on expert, where I sit today

I saw some dude at a store playing it and thought it was an import game, got sad and thought I'd never get to play it. Then found out I could, bought it and Christmas Eve I tried it out, sucked mad bad but improved a whole lot later.

I had heard about it for a long time, so on payday i decided to get it one day. It was 9 o clock, and me and a friend were downtown. I called future shop and they said they were only open til 10. We quickly met up with a friend and smoked a 'natural cigarette', then started heading for future shop. It's quite.. quite far away.
I decided to start jogging at 20 after because we weren't even close. My friend eventually fell behind but I pushed on, jogging my ass off as fast as i could to get there.
Made it with 5 minutes to spare, grabbed the game, beat medium that night [all night] and kept movin on since.... best game ever. Can't even count the number of people i've shown it to... tons.

First time I played Guitar Hero was at GameStop's conference in August 2005. There weren't that many people at the booth that year and I managed to grab an axe uncontested and rock out to some Priest. I knew I was witnessing a revolution in gaming, although I was simply drawn to it because I love guitar.
That Christmas was insane because everyone wanted it and no one expected it.
The next year GH2 had LINES of people waiting 30 minutes at a time to play it.
