I want to get 2 additional microphones for harmonies. I currently have RB2 mic with PS3.

Amazon currently has

(a) PS3 Logitech Vantage mic for about $13

(b) PS2 (but apparently these should be OK on PS3?) pair of singstar mics for $20

Any recommendations, regarding quality, ease of getting it to work, etc?

Thanks!

I just bought a SingStar PS2 set with two mics from Craigslist for $15. The lady brought them to my office today. I'll let you know if it works! I hope so... otherwise... umm... anyone wanna buy PS2 SingStar Amped? :)

Thanks. Do you know if you need to use a USB hub to get those to work with all the other peripherals?

Go to gamestop and ask for any PS2/3 used USB microphones. They go for $10. I picked one up and it was fine. I cleaned the hell out of it with disinfectants and other cleansers, and it works just fine.

I got three microphones now.

My PS3 is from the launch, so I have four USB ports. Ports one through three are the instruments (drums, bass, guitar) and number four is the microphone. The other two mics are plugged into the guitar's USB dongle.

Thanks for the reply about the ports, but for basically the same price, I would prefer having new mics rather than used which seems kind of gross to me.

The thing about SingStar mics is that they plug two mics into one dongle, so the pair just uses one USB port. You may have to turn up the sensitivity for them though.

FYI - I tried out the SingStar mics last night and they seem to work just fine (at least in the calibration screen!). $15 minus whatever I get back when I sell the PS2 game that came with 'em.

I saw the Naked Brothers game in Best Buy yesterday for $10 with a microphone.
Toss the disc and you've got a new USB mic for ten bucks.
