View Full Version : Am I the only one?

I feel like one of the very, very few who are excited about Rock Band as a "singing" game. I don't really care about the drums and other features. From what I've read, a lot of people seem to be prepared to tune out the singing feature altogether. How many others are looking forward to this? Oh, and I'm sure this has been answered before (I'm a nOOb, after all...) But can you turn the pre-recorded vocals off, or do they always have to be on in the background?

You can turn the prerecorded vocals off.
You should also pick up Karaoke Revolution, since the singing parts are heavily based on that.

i am very excited about the singing portion of the game...being a singer..it would be great to have your bandmembers on live hear your voice in the song..kinda like the live headset...and turning the prerecorded crap off is good..i'm a good singer...and i want my band to rock...me being lead singer of course...id feel stupid if i do great and all they can hear is the origional artist doing it..that would defeat the purpose

I'm excited to try it. It seems pretty forgiving, which is good for me and my lack of natural singing ability. I'm already looking forward to belting "WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU MA'AM!" and "I've seen a million faces, and I've rocked 'em all."

Yeah I'm also looking forward to singing as much as the other peripherals. I'm not a good singer or anything but it's fun to try and I have the Karaoke Revolution Games.

I definatly wouldn't exclude vocals, I sing in my horror punk band, and I do hope for some screaming songs (although I doubt they would do that)

Personally I'm not extremely excited about the vocals section of the game. However I will give it a shot (probably when no one else is home, lol)
I think it is definitely under-rated though. Look at games like Sing Star, that's coming out for PS3 in a few months and has a lot of hype but for a lot of people the tracklist is gonna suck, even with downloaded content.
What I love about Rock Bands Vocals is that they will go all out choosing awesome rocking tracks, not just ones that suit singing, which in the end can be some of the funnest (but sometimes hardest) songs out there.

I secretly practice singing with the music blasting when im the only one home. Im excited for it.. it gives an avenue of actually looking singing without like a tard in front of everyone

not that i'll be painful to hear, just not used to public singing really. with time hopefully, i'd like to sing for a group in RB

yeah..thats how im starting out..i can do the guitar on hard...but when the game comes out the place wil be FLOODED with guitarists and drummers...singers will be in short supply...and i actually enjoy singing so it all works out for me...bassists will also be hard to come by

people will have to realize theyre gonna have to switch off guitar/bass if they have a committed band. few will commit to only playing bass most of the time
I guess i would, but would also want some time to play drums and vocals with other people.

I'm going to sing, just probably not in public. Then again, it doesn't get much funnier than a dweeby kid with a goofy high pitched voice trying to sing Mississippi Queen.

haha...yeah most people will sing solo career and not take it online..i will on the other hand...its very strange...my voice cracked for like a month then just changed to what it is now....and i love to sing...not to mention im good at it...singing online...im gonna be like an impulse item...the first band to grab me gets me haha

Of course Singing will be awesome, I may not Sing all the time but I'm not gonna be afraid to let it all out once in a while so to speak.
making a fool of yourself isn't always a bad thing... let loose now and then

I'm very excited to give the singing portion a try, and hopefully will focus on that for online play. However, I'm also worried that it may cause me to realize once and for all that I am not half the singer I think I am.
Ideally I'll figure out how to play bass and sing, then I could fill the two most common holes that will be in most online bands.

Woo! That's good to hear there's some people excited about the singing... I haven't even looked at what songs are available for karaoke revolution and sing star. I assumed they were all pop-type crappy songs. But to be able to sing true ROCK songs, that's going to be awesome. I'm really hoping they're going to put some Lamb of God on there...

To make up for the hilarity of Laid to Rest's vocals?
'Crap, we forgot the vocals for this one...'
'Somebody find a bum!'
'Hey Pitstop Pete, say these words angrily into this mic and we'll give you a cheese wheel'

If they decide to throw in The Hand That Feeds by NIN then I will pick up the bass and sing. My bandmates want me to sing the whole time, but I told them I have to get my drum and my strum on at times.

I wouldn't tune out Rock Band's vocal gameplay. It's a necessity. :)

Of course I'm exicted. I plan to play bass and guitar with vocals(not all at once, mind you).

HAH! Yes, I agree. It seems singers with similar voices to Randy Blythe in the rock community are plentiful. That GH II version was a travesty!

I think what most people are excited for is the drum section. I mean come on, its drums!
