When I play Rock Band with generally more than one person I always get two red rings on the Xbox before we can even complete one song. I have only gotten red rings with Rock Band. This is the first time I received these for any game also - I know it deals with overheating.
This has also happened during solo play but only once. My question is should I chalk this up to a 360 hardware issue or a Rock Band issue? PLease help me, my Rock Band world is falling down around me as I have two thread in here now.

Not to make fun of your situation....but I'm so glad I have a PS3 and not the crapbox.

Apparently you haven't seen the game selection PS3 has vs Xbox 360 then.

OK I get a consistent overheat (2 red rings) every time I play multiplayer Rock Band. And it is with only Rock Band, as I do not get this overheat (2 red rings) on any other games, or arcade titles, dvd's, dashboard operation/music.
Is this a console issue or a Rock Band issue? I would assume console but it is only Rock Band that gives trouble. By the way, my 360 is pretty old.

You mean how it's strikingly similar from here on out?
Xbox had the big exclusives in 2007, PS3 has them in 2008. All other big games are multi-plat. The "PS3 has no games" argument will be moot by next Thanksgiving, if it already isn't.

If you have an intercooler take it off, those things kill your 360 any way.

the plastic one does. The newer intercooler with metal connector rocks and any issues are results of power surges. Get a decent surge protector and you should be good. Like a high end PC your 360 is heating up a lot and any extra cooling the better. Get it on a solid surface (not a carpet) and have it out in the open and not cooped to increase air flow. Also keep it horizontal to increase the heat dissipation surface and stability of the disc reader. I've had a cooler on my 360 since I got it a year ago and I have had no issues. You keep heating that 360 like you currently you're going to get the 3 rings from the motherboard expanding and contracting due to fluctuating temps.

keep your 360 off a carpet and out of rack units that dont let them breath and they are fine...the aftermarket coolers do suck and restrict them more and causes overheats....they blame power surges but it's actually a overheat

Now I am debating trying to kill my 360 with overheats to get 3 red rings for a free fix or to try the surge protector route. I currently do not use, nor have I ever used a intercooler. Is that a good option?
