The backstory: being a huge and long-time Beatle fan, I was at first resistant to the TB: RB game coming out. Then, as I saw clips and ads, I started to get more and more excited about this game.
So, I decided to sell a few low-end guitars I have to fund the purchase of a Wii (I have an 8 year old daughter, whose friends also have Wii systems and more games on that would be ones whe would enjoy) and a way to get TB: RB game. For now, I was able to cobble together a good deal on a GH: WT controller for under $20 and a copy of the game for $40 through Micro Center.
Last night, after much pain of looking at the game sitting there being unplayed, the controller arrived in the mail!
I must say, this game is worth every penny I spent on it, and definitely will get more use than the couple guitars I sold to get the system and controller.
Now, it will be a matter of who will be using the Wii more: me or my daughter! My wife likes the system, but will probably come in third in playtime on the system.
But, I have to say that, so far, TB: RB has been the most enjoyable gaming experience I have ever had!

congrats man, I'm glad you are enjoying yourself.
I think it's great to hear stories like this. These games get panned by critics saying "why don't you pick up a real guitar?". Well you, like me, play an instrument IRL and had just as much or more fun playing the game.
If I may ask what guitars did you have to part with?

If you get the cash, I highly recommend finding a set of RB1/2 drums (which I just saw on eBay at this very moment selling for about $15 slightly used) and a microphone or two (anywhere between $7-10 each depending on luck). This game is a pretty great teacher of limb independence and harmony for you or your youngun. My drum skills went from just below mediocre to just above average in only a week.

Thanks for the welcome, folks! I will definitely pick up a set of drums and a mic along the way, as those can be had for relatively little money.
At some point, I will get the Gretsch or Rick, just so I have the vibe when I'm playing the game.
For the other question, I sold off a Squier Vintage Vibe 50's Strat (as a side note, I perform as Buddy Holly in a tribute show) - I already have a Fender 50's Strat, so that one was not being played and was expendable and a Gretsch Junior Jet (I already have a Tennessean, so the Jet wasn't getting much play time, especially since I have an Epiphone LP Junior that I play more).

I think you did pretty well then. I'm not a huge fan of strat's but the Tennessean is a beautiful guitar. Well played I say.

This is the first top-notch Beatles material I've been excited about since the original CD releases. Knowing the source material and the quality of the producers (I've veen with HMX since Frequency and Amplitude) I knew it would be fantastic. Welcome aboard, and I hope to see you and your young-un, online. Mine's 6, and she sings and drums!

Supposedly the Wii is dropping in price in about 10 days. So depending on where and when you bought it, maybe you can pricematch to get the difference back.

Hello, Mr. Target Audience!
For the folks who've been wondering how TB:RB is selling best on the Wii...this is why.
Look forward to playing with you, sir!
