Is there anyone on here who had no previous drum experience prior to this game that is able to beat most all of the songs on expert?

Just curious. . . . I can beat a few on expert and well over half on hard and all of them on medium but it's pretty tough, maybe someone can give me some pointers or tips or drills or just ideas to help me improve my ability especially in terms of the fast parts where it will go from red to yellow to blue or when you have to use the bass pedal a ton in quick succession.

Anyway any help would be appreciated.

Also, I've never been behind a real drum set, so if one where to say be able to beat every song on expert would that mean one could play the real drums?

Thanks

Bryan

Just keep practicing, you'll get it soon enough...I've never touched a real drum set in my life and I've beat every song on expert except for Run to the Hills...You might as well just go ahead and accept the fact that you will very likely never beat that on expert...

Me! lol, i have never touched a set of drums in my life.
Actually scratch that after playing rock band i've been looking around at drum kits and feeling them haha.
I have trouble with songs that have extended periods of "rolling"
(Run To The Hills, Orange Crush, etc).
Working on it though.

run to the hills is much less then impossible.....anyone will be able to play it. It is just a matter of endurance, nothing is technical about it.

Exactly, I actually found it easier than a lot of the other songs. It's all the same thing, over and over and over and over and over again, and all of the fills are extremely simplistic. It's just fast, that's where most people have problems with it. Other than the speed, it's really not technically difficult at all.

I hate to tell this to you, but practice!

Even if you're doing something wrong and don't know it yet, practicing (and realizing that something isnt' working) will get you to experiment and change stuff up if you have to.

I had never played drums before I got rock band. Based off of quick play and solo career, I estimate that I could probably pass 3/4 of the songs on Hard and more than half on expert (which is an entirely different thing than playing them well ;) ).

It is possible, but you have to be willing to slow down when you reach a pattern or something that you can't do... and practice it until you've learned the basics of it.

One thing I still have problems with are alternating kick/snare/high hat strikes.... somehow I always seem to reverse what I am *supposed* to do, and the are frequently too fast for me to realize (since the kick pedal itself doesn't make any noice).

You'll learn. Trick is to have fun while you do.
