Rock Band Controller Compatibility PS2 -> 360

Does anyone know if you can use the guitar bundled with Guitar Hero 3 for PS2 with Rock Band on the XBox360?
Reason is my friend just got Rock Band and it's all good fun but there are too many of us and not enough instruments. So we are thinking of getting another guitar to fill up a spot but I don't want to just buy a 360 guitar and have it doing nothing when we aren't at his place playing Rock Band. So I figured I can get Guitar Hero 3 bundle on PS2 (only console I have) so I can play at home and then take it to play Rock Band. Has anyone tried this out? Of course you will need some type of PS2->USB converter but are there any that work well with Rock Band? Any input lag? Thanks for the info!
Oh btw, how about converting a 360 guitar to PS2 to play GH3? Seems even less likely :(

The only peripherals that work for a 360 are those specifically designed to work for a 360.

xbox uses a special chip to not only confirm that its an officially licensed microsoft approved product, but also for their exclusive xbox button. So no, but you might get a 360 controller to work on the PS2 :) with some work
