Okay, let's say I'm #30,000 on the boards. How do I know how many this is out of? Is it out of 50,000 people? Or 500,000? I can't find the place where it shows the total players on the board. It's pretty meaningless without knowing how many people you're going up against.

i agree

I'd like local leaderboards too, for differentiating the different solo tour users

I once attempted to find out the bottom number on the boards, but gave up after about ten minutes of holding the down button straight. I'd like a "go to bottom of list" button or something.

Yeah it would be nice. Guitar Hero 2 shows the total.

Create a new profile, then check the leaderboards without playing any of the songs. It should show you the very end of the list for career and each individual song with some text at the bottom of the screen that says "unranked! you need to play to get on the board". I know this works on the xbox360, but I'm not sure about the ps3.

Here's the awful hack you can use to find out: create a "junk" account (gamertag or PSN ID or whatever), and do not use it to actually play. But log in with it to check the leader boards. It'll say "hey, you ain't played nothin'", and will show you the bottom of the list.

(At least, when I check the leaderboards on the xbox for an instrument I haven't played, it shows me the bottom of the list.)

This is a pretty valid concern regarding the leaderboards. I have wondered about it myself. I sit ranked in the 300's in career for each instrument... it would be nice to know if that's top 10%, top 5%, top 1% etc.

Won't this kind of information be available from the new site that is supposed to be launching soon?

All I know is I looked at the Leaderboards last night for my friends list and my wife's drum career was at the top of my list with a -1. She's only done 1 song, but I'm not sure how she achieved a negative performance. :p

Poster above you said the same thing, BUT it is a great idea and something I wouldn't have thought of. Thanks! :)

We have 2 bands, one has just a few songs played so it is ranked somewhere near the bottom, so it gives perspective, Full Speed (main band) is ranked around 650, and Unicorn Frijolesky (other band) is ranked somewhere around 24000.

This is on the PS3.

The local leaderboards would be nice. I miss seeing how much better/worse I did on a song I've played. Is there anyway to do this now that I'm missing?

It seems that with the advent of online leaderboards games don't feel the need to include local ones any more, which is a shame. I would have loved to have local leaderboards for Super Stardust HD (a PS3 store game) for example. If you don't beat your best score you get nothing for it at all since the online leaderboards just keep your best score (which makes sense). Local leaderboards would have allowed you to at least get some reward, however small.

In the context of Rock Band, it would let you keep track of who was the "best of the house" or whatever. You could maybe even reset it for parties so it could keep track of who did the best for the evening... the possibilities are endless! :-) But there are honestly bigger fish to fry so I doubt that this is something we will get to see.

I dunno how many but I'm #9 on drums on Ride The Lightning. That's quite enough for me ^^

Harmonix would do well to hire a consultant from Turn 10 to help them with their leaderboards. Forza 2 leaderboards have everything you guys are asking for: Local leaderboards, online, friends, tells you out of how many, etc...

GH2 told us out of how many, I dunno how it's missing from this :P
