Nothing too breakthrough... and he incorrectly credited Foreplay/Long Time and Learn to Fly to Guitar Hero. But it was interesting anyway.

Don't you just love it when journalists don't do their homework?

It's not just teens or twentysomethings rocking out. Longtime game player Dan Thomas, 51, a computer programmer in Placentia, Calif., even gets his wife, Gina, to join in Guitar Hero on songs such as Boston's Foreplay/Long Time and the Foo Fighters' Learn to Fly: "She hates video games, but she's really enjoying this."

Need I even point out the error in that quote from the article?

I noticed that mis-credit as well Apples. Also noticed that they didn't mention the lineage of the developers for either game, but named Harmonix as a newcomer. Although I'd say that the writer was more commenting on the Rock Band franchise than the developer in that statement...

The numbers are interesting to me, though. I don't know if Harmonix is going to release their actual numbers on sales.

Something also of interesting note is that Red Octane is releasing free DLC lately. The content for the boss battles to be quickplay done was, if you ask me, required to be free. But they've added a couple of free songs beyond that already, and supposedly either this week or next will include "We Three Kings" as a free download for Christmas.

From what I've seen/read, this is a major change of strategy for Red Octane. I still think that Penny Arcade hit the nail on the head, and that they are really worried about the effect of Rock Band on their monopoly of Rock games.

So being the stickler for accuracy that I am, I wrote to USA Today to let them know of the error in the article. They responded:
