So earlier today I was playing RB2 and after a bit it started to randomly have the "You have this effect selected" box come up in the middle of the song when it didn't seem to have changed at all since I already had it set to none. So after a while I noticed how it was kinda going to chorus for a fraction of a second though I was not even touching the effects switch.

I've tried turning the guitar off, unplugging and replugging the dongle, turning off the system, switching it to other settings and then back to none, but no matter what I can't just have it at none without that box coming up and flickering between chorus and none.

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution to this problem? Will I have to just buy another RB2 controller?

It's happened to me a few times, not often enough to pop it open to try to see what's causing it.

I haven't seen a solution to it. You could try disconnecting the switch, if it still happens there's likely nothing that can be done as it would be something on the board causing it, rather than a simple switch malfunction.

Is it bad enough to warrant buying another guitar?

EDIT: If you do open your guitar up, be careful, it's easy to mess things up in there.

I can tell it's a switch thing as it only happens when set to none.

If I have the right screwdriver I may dive into it and try disconnecting the switch.

Booo,
Did you find anything out?
I am having a similar prob, when I have mine set to "None" it constantly flickers or stays displayed. It drives me crazy.
I did open it up and the switch looks fine to me.
BTW I am also having a prob with going into overdrive either right away when I accumulate enough juice or at random times.
So I think I may have a problem with circuit board.
It sucks.

Arcturus, if you don't use/need your effects switch you can open the guitar up and follow the wires from the switch back to the board and unplug it. Then tape it down somewhere safe inside the guitar.

This will cause the effects to remain at none and stops the flickering.
