View Full Version : DRUMS: Why not a freestyle option?

I would love it if there was an option to drum along with a song WITHOUT the "notes"--in other words: 100% freestyle. The drum kit is much more suited to freestyle than the guitars are, so why not?

Here's a reasonable setup. Only one tom, but with only four pads, whaddya gonna do?

RED: Snare
YELLOW: High Hat (always closed position)
BLUE: Tom
GREEN: Crash

Instead of scrolling notes, perhaps it could be some sort of scrolling metronome, to help keep the basic beat. But the drummer is free to drum however he or she would like.

Any thoughts? Patch? :D

Because there's already several options for this.

1) Turn off the game, freestyle all you want on the pads.
2) Buy a real drumset and freestyle all you want. You might even learn how to improvise fills this way.
3) Take your sticks and freestyle on your couch, chair, table, pillow, bed, tree, kids, dog, neighbors, etc.

:D

If you can find an opening section of a song with 0 drum notes, couldn't you loop it in practice mode and do freeform there?

oh man apples, you are thinking.

The Who would be great for this..

and yes, I've been asking for this feature.. but I don't really care anymore since we got real drums here now :)

"Won't Get Fooled Again" at 90% speed.

except it gets kinda old keeping a beat with a crash, two toms and your kick/snare. .. but WGFA's intro in practice is good for testing your pads to see if they work.

funny solutions in this thread.
